Bucks fan here----definitely hope we are at least making a push for Gay as we are desperate to get more athleticism around Jennings, but agree that the current deals proposed aren't enough for the Grizzlies to sniff at.

One good thing in our favor is that the Bucks can afford to take on Jaric, as we're not expecting real cap room until 2010 anyways. We also have a variety of ending contract players who would be solid fits---Kurt Thomas is done but would be a good locker room presence, and for all of Alexander's faults if you're picking up a player for his ending deal it might as well be a young guy to take a flier on.

However, the big piece I think the other scenarios were missing is the only plyaer we have available that is see the Grizzlies having real interest in----Luc Richard Mbah a Moute.

He is unheralded on the national stage for hte most part, but he is an incredible defender who beat our Villanueva for a starting spot last year as a rookie because of it. His offense is lacking, but then again, with Mayo/Randolph/AI I don't think you guys are looking for a major scorer from SF right now (though you'd certainly prefer a better 3 point shooter)

I'm unsure of hte Bucks' interest in Gay consdiering his lack of defense and pending contract extension, and obviously a Gay trade would depend on what else you guys are being offered (or if you're willing to make a bigger trade by including Conley/Gasol etc). '

Just food for thought.

Mbah A Moute is a player I've mentioned before. Last season he did quite well as a rookie. It looks so far that he isn't fairing as well this year, at least on offense and rebounding.

We've been through plenty of posts that have discussed the need for a defensive stopper instead of having one way players. I don't know if Mbah A Moute would be the answer though. I think Memphis needs the scoring Gay provides, only they need it from someone who doesn't force things quite so much and yet is steady on the defensive end of the court as well. Jeff Green would be my ideal type of small forward for the Grizzlies.

At this stage I think Demarre Carroll can play the role Mbah A Moute does.

Gay has been mentioned in rumors this week with the Cavs, assuming he is actually made available. The obvious package would be Z's huge expiring (which can be bought out), Hickson and some combination of draft picks and Danny Green or Christian Eyenga.

Might seem seem unfair right now to Griz fans as Hickson is unproven due to his injury last year and the fact that Mike Brown doesn't play young players. But something amazing has happened now, Hickson is now the starting 4 for the Cavs. This has been done for 2 reasons: to obviously try and give him some experience but mostly to showcase him for a future trade.

I know Rudy and LeBron are boys and this move would easily be enough to keep him in Cleveland, but obviously it would be hard for your team to take.

I haven't heard/seen any rumors about the Cavs being interested in Gay. Is there a link that you could provide? As for the deal proposed, I'm definitely not a fan. I've seen much worse, but I still wouldn't do it.

The Cavs have nothing to offer the Grizzlies for Rudy.

[insert Lakers-Pau Gasol joke here]
