I just don't understand the basis for anything Grant is saying. They told Kevin that they're not going to let him play. What else is he supposed to do? Also--that quote about "you play unless you're going to further damage your body." Yeah, I agree, and it seems to completely apply in this situation. Kevin would seem to very clearly be risking damage to his body. That's why they're not letting him play.

Grant(aka Peaches) is a dueche-bag. He always has been since I was a kid, and he still is. One of my fondest memories was calling in during the '96 Olympics one Summer afternoon and asking him, "Hey Grant, Got any ideas who's going take the Gold in Fencing this year?" For the next ten minutes he went off on us and then throughout his show made references to how 'idiotic' that call was. It was hilarious cuz we were fully attempting to pull his chain and he LET US do it. I'll never forget that. Who cares what he has to say, he's such a deuche-bag that his opinion is irrelevant to my life.

Napear has long outlived his usefulness to this town's broadcasting personalities.

Once upon a time, when things were pretty boring around here, he was a breath of fresh edgy air in an otherwise vanilla radio day. Now though, he has become so full of himself it is just ridiculous. There are times when even his broadcast partner, Mike Lamb, pulls him up short on some over the top statements. I just think that it is time for the orginization to move in a new direction with broadcasters and prime show host alongside Lamb (who is really very good, reasonable and entertaining).

As far as the original point here, I stand by what I said about the Kings choice of medical staff. i am seeing far too many reports of missed diagnoses and incorrect diagnoses. I think that it is time to find a set of team docs or - if for some reason they can't do that here - go out of area to get treatment. It has gotten to the point where it is truly detrimental to this franchise both in the short AND long haul.

I really do hope that these idiotic comments by Grant could create some sort of schism between him and the players on the team that maybe could end with Grant being put out to pasture. One of my absolute biggest pet peeves is how certain people on this board act as if Grant has the inside scoop on players, coaching staff, etc. After reading his comments though I think it is more clear than ever that he is no more inside than I am or any of you are, he obviously has no idea what is going on in the Kings organization.
Back to the original point though I do think it would be interesting if someone could figure out some way to measure this training/medical staff against others in the league. We all know that it always seems like this team struggles more than it's fair share with injuries, but I don't know if we've ever actually seen verifiable statistical data to back this up.

P.S. Here's a humorous story from Sactown Royalty. I'm sure some of you have read this already, but if you haven't it's worth a look.

To be perfectly fair, Grant's play by play calling are actually quite above average amongst his NBA peers. It's his radio show that gets him in trouble, if he kept play by play Grant on exclusively, I'd have no problems with him, it's just that he lets his opinions, wrong ones at that, get the better of him and he has ZERO tact with those he interacts with. His a social delinquent. But he can do the play by play quite well to be totally fair and honest.

Smills, don't EVEN go there.

I have defended even some of your ridiculous homer trades on the trade board, but this is too much. When I came back to town in 2002, Grant's act was already getting old - ESPECIALLY on the TV broadcast. It actually came to the point a couple of years ago where people were actively calling in to Kozimor and Carmichael Dave's shows (and especially the rise guys in the early AM) saying that they were turning off the volume and either listening to Gary Gerould or the national broadcast (if there was one). I was actually relieved tonight at one point during the game when my wife muted the sound and I didn't have to listen to his drivel - and he actually tuned it down tonight (probably had the muzzle put on by the Maloof's because of the negative stuff about Martin lately).

Here's the problem I have with Grant. Most people who make it out of Sac do so as YOUNG PEOPLE LEAVING TOWN to make it on the national level. Grant came here after failing in his home area, and built himself a gig here. He has, however, ALWAYS wanted to get national. Unfortunately, his look, persona and shtick aren't good enough. So what we are left with is a guy who is bitter and resentful that this is as good as it gets for him, and as a result we have to endure the fact that the team and the town that he calls for constantly have to hewar about his beloved Yankees and Giants and how badly we all suck as compared to "real markets".

Personally, I am a native Sacramentan and Californian and I am tired of hearing this kind of crap. I CERTAINLY do not want to hear it from my team's play-by-play guy. If I want to be insulted, I'll turn on a national show so it at least holds some water.

Got to say I agree with Smills as far as Grants radio personality goes. As far as him doing play by play though I agree with OGSactownballer. Be it his ridiculous catch phrases, piss poor banter with Jerry (incidentally does anyone else ever get the feeling they don't like each other? It seems like there are at least a couple of times each game where there are these weird awkward moments, comments etc. I don't know maybe it's just me.) over the top homerism, and complaining. I'll say this for Grant, he may be among the better NBA announcers out there (I don't think so), but that is less a comment on his talent as a broadcaster than it is a comment on the horrible announcers currently working the NBA circuit.
I'd also like to mention I wholeheartedly support the notion of turning the television broadcast down and turning the radio broadcast up, I've been doing this for more or less five years now (I generally only listen to the t.v. when I watch the game with other people or khtk's signal is out of wack) and couldn't be happier.

I forbade myself from listening to him! I've called his show about four times...and all four times I've checked him. He went on to say the Maloofs are nice people...why on earth do the people in Sacramento not like him. Me being the "call your bs out" guy that I am I called! Normally they just ask where are you from, name, and what do you want to say. The last time it too like 10 rings for them to answer. I got the 3rd degree about what I wanted to talk about. I just got the feeling I was on some kind of call screening list. Anyway after being on hold for an extremely long time I just hung up. My point was simple. People don't like the Maloofs because they want a stadium paid for that they exclusively profit from.

Since I realized if Grant doesn't see that he's an IDIOT I decided to stop listening to 1140 UNLESS a Kings game is on.

Grant needs to be run out of town, and the G-Man needs to NEEDS TO take the spot with Reyonds.

I agree totally. The G-Man is great.
