Would you do this trade?

Ray Allen / Scal / Baby for Kevin Martin / Beno Udrih / Andres Nocioni / Fransisco Garcia

Sacto get's out of not 1, not 2, but 3 bad contracts. Next year they will be significantly under the cap because of it. They get a young role player in Davis and they Allen may help them sell a few extra tickets this season.

From out viewpoint this is all about extending our championship window. Martin is better than Ray at this point and was absolutely tearing it up before he went down. He get's to the line, something this team is currently missing, where he converts at a high percentage. And while you won't find a better deep threat than Ray, Martin hit on over 40 % from 3 the last two years and was 17 - 38 (45%) this year. At 6-7 with good quickness he should be a defensive upgrade. Also he's young (only 26) and locked up for the next 4 year's at about Rondo money. While the other players we get back are all overpaid, each brings some skills (some more than others) that could help the bench.

So, would you pull the trigger on this trade? Would Sacto?

Haven't we all bashed a trade exactly like this before?

Nocioni/Garcia/Udrih are all vastly overpaid with long contracts something we're trying to avoid, and Kevin Martin is injury prone and can only score.

Also Sacramento would never do this either.

Yes, this is the third time I've seen a Ray/K Mart based trade since the summer and the consensus every time is that neither team would do it. I'd love to know why this exact trade idea seems to be so persistent.

Kevin Martin is out indefinitely with a hairline fracture.. and in this variation, in which we take back, what, every single bad Sacramento contract, an injured 2-guard isn't enough of a return. Don't see the Kings tossing in Thompson or this year's 1st, either..

No, and also, let's keep the K-Mart nick name for Kenyan Martin only.

Sacramento lets out a loud  . Just saw them tear up the Warriors last night without Kevin Martin. Like I said in a previous trade thread involving Sacramento - Martin, Evans, Thompson and Hawes are a solid core to build around. Donte Green and Casspi might be good too. They're going to be okay.

I realize that most people think the Maloofs are hurting for cash. However, they can bleed money for a few years and it'll only help to justify their case of moving their team to Las Vegas. I don't think they'd trade a cornerstone of their franchise just to cut costs and keep the team in Sacramento.

I love Kevin Martin and think he is the ideal replacement for Ray but we would essentially be paying him essentially 30 mil a year to take on those crap contracts. Beyond that while we might think they are crappy players on crappy contracts those are the Kings starters and we are giving them nothing back for their best player he isn't 30 years old they have time to put a team around him.
