Wonder who we would have gone after with that 5th pick. I wouldnt mind having picked up Jennings or Lawson. In retrospect the team looks good now and we got Clark (and could have had Lawson with 14) so im glad we didnt make it.

We probably would have gotten Hill, Jennings, or Flynn with that pick. Or traded it for money so we could have picked up a more expensive big than Channing. Buter and Jamison would have been real interesting on this team.

This rumor was floating around around the draft, so not sure why it's being reported as news now.

I was going to post a separate thread about this, but this seems like a good place for it: the Suns might have to revisit the GSW trade again. Randolph is apparently very pissed (like just about every player on that team) and may request a trade soon. If that happens, and given that STAT has basically shown he's back from the eye injury, it might be a "golden" opportunity (pun intended) to pry Randolph away from them. Only problem is STAT's unwillingness to sign an extension with the Dubs. However, Stoudemire may opt in to his contract and provide a little stability, or GSW might welcome the expiring contract.

The way this team has come together and are playing as a "team" there is no way they trade any of our big name players. The chemistry this team has is rare and I seriously doubt they are going to mess with that. Now things can change if we slip and begin to play poorly, then maybe they would consider such a trade, but not right now, not how this team is playing together.

I don't want Jamison. Dude's old and still has a huge deal. 5th pick is nice though. Props to our FO for demanding Butler.

Thinking about it, this would still have been a decent deal without Butler but it would all depend on who the Suns would have used the 5th pick to draft. If they drafted someone like Brandon Jennings or Rubio it would have been worth it but they also could have drafted a guy like Jordan Hill or Johnny Flynn which would have made it bad...

Yeah the team chemistry is as good as I've ever seen it, so it'd be really dangerous trading Stoudemire.

This would not have been a decent deal for Jamison alone. Are you kidding me??

Amare is much better than Jamison

Would you guys have done Amare for Jamison/Butler/5th?

That's a pretty good package IMO, especially if we took Rubio, Flynn, Jennings or Curry with that pick. I don't know what our depth chart would look like though...

Nash/Dragic/(RubioORFlynnORJenningsORCurry)
Butler/Barbosa
Hill/Richardson
Jamison/Dudley/Clark
Frye/Amundson/Lopez/Collins

I love our current lineup but that is pretty sick! And it makes us a better team for the future.

EDIT: Didn't realize they wanted our pick, so I guess Clark wouldn't be in the picture.

Seems like Kerr values Amare pretty high. This trade and Al Jefferson/5th pick rumor has been pretty interesting.

There might be an actual chance Amare for Jeff+pick actually happens since Al isnt fitting in

I say we keep the team together for now and re-evaluate if we're struggling at the trade deadline

I concur! We could have also made a JRICH trade to another team on top of that.
Say JRICH to CHI for Deng/Johnson? Frees up the logjam at SG and gets us a good SF long term and a Rookie that we were looking at drafting.

Nash/Dragic/Jennings
Butler/Barbosa
Deng/Hill/Dudley
Jamison/Clark/Johnson
Frye/Amundson/Lopez

Good thought, but the Clark pick would have gone to the Wiz in the Amare deal.

Yeah the deal as originally mentioned, without Caron, is terrible.

As for the one rsavaj mentioned, Jamison/Butler/5th, I dislike this one as well. First of all, both Rich and Barbs off the bench?? Doesn't make sense at all. We get too loaded at the swing spot with terrible rotation at the 4 and 5.

Yeah I remember that rumoured trade.

Jamison + 5th pick would of been the starting point for the trade.

Adding Butler made it considerable in Suns's favour.

I love Butler, and I would of packaged Barbosa + Stoudemire + 15th pick to get Butler + Jamison + 5th and maybe a future pick.

But as expected the Wizards GM wasnt dumb enough.

Imagine the Suns running game with...

PG. Nash
SG. Richardson
SF. Butler
PF. Jamison
C. Lopez

Thats 4 players capable of scoring 20+ a night, has slashing, 3 point shooting, jump shooting and an inside scorer.

But Playoffs time might hit a wall if the tempo slows down... as that team is tiny upfront.
But assuming Frye was signed still, it would be okay.

The 5th pick would be gravy as in getting Jennings, Flynn or Hill.... If Rubio was there would of been steal of a decade.

Barbosa is better than Butler and Amare is better than Jamison.

Why would you do that trade?

ok amare is better than jamison that is true but barbosa is not better than butler. I'll take butler over lb any day. Like barbosa but not more than butler. Butler is the more complete player
