i think it is kinda dumb to trade a guy because they are under performing as a 2nd overall pick. i think it is better to make that decission based on what they are getting paid, and i think based on Marvin's new contract Marvin is helping the team enough without hurting cap.

Josh Howard has plenty of heart. I would pass on trading youth for him and losing four inches at the 3 has a lack of appeal.

Just trade Marvin to Greece for Childress and y'all are set.

Seriously? Who's gonna play defense on the opposition's best scoring wing?

^ Now, don't go making sense, you'll ruin the whole thread.
My mother told me, she said, "Elwood, to make it in this world you either have to be oh, so clever or oh, so pleasant." Well, for years I was clever; I recommend pleasant.

Josh Childress is far from sucking and i actually would trade him for Marvin. Childress would make us so difficult to defend it's scary. He is much more stronger with the ball, has a lot better handle, and attacks the basket with a lot more confidence and can actually finish some and 1's every now and then. He doesn't fumble and stumble all over the place at the slightest contact. Every time Marvin drives to the paint he looks like he either was punch drunk or the defender tried to kill him making the refs calls even more of an enigma. Childress also is a little better of an athlete, i remember a couple of seasons when he was here when i used to watch the games just to see who had the more spectacular dunks him or Josh. Marvin has a better outside shot i will give him that though. With all that being said i still like Marvin and hopes he continues his slow but gradual improvement but i like Childress a slight bit more.

It was a joke more than anything else because I remember a couple fans clamoring for Childress last year when Williams was struggling. Either way. It would be awesome to wake up and read "Williams trade to Greece" on hoopshype.com.

I haven't seen a lot of our Marvin so far, but it is early.

He still has a good skillset for this team. I would think he should be on our top 3 scores list, but this team is very balanced. We will continue to go to Jamal and when Joe is hot, he gets his points. Aside of that, it is a score by committee group.

Aside of the Charlotte disappointment, we are in good shape with this lineup. Marvin has his contract, so let's see if he steps up in the next month or so.

Not a lot to complain about right now. We are holding court with Orlando at this point.

I don't get why people are mad with Marvin. Would it be nice for him to grow some cajones and demand the ball? Sure. Am I fine with him basically being a more talented Shane Battier? Yes.

That's basically how I look at Marv, a Shane Battier type that if need be can give you a 25 point game. All these people that are still on the "He's a number 2 pick, he should be averaging 28 and 12" tip need to just get over it because he won't but he is still far from a bust.

The good thing is that with the addition of Crawford, we don't need Marvin to demand the ball anymore.

Without context, it doesn't mean anything.
Just imagine if SAC had Marvin instead of Martin, and let him play a first role. I'd bet he would put more than 20pts per game, and maybe he would already have a +10M/yr contract.

Most of the time, a second pick gets the keys of the team, or at least the second role.
Marvin came here being immediately behind Joe, Josh and maybe even Childress sometimes even if he was starting over him.

Question on what you'd take in return for Marvin. Would Ryan Gomes be enough?

my scenario being:

MN OUT: Gomes, Wilkins
MN IN: Williams

ATL OUT: Williams
ATL IN: Gomes

NJ OUT: nothing
NJ IN: Wilkins + cash & or 2nd rounder from MN

Gomes can give the Hawks what Marvin does at half the cost (& a partially guaranteed deal.)

Would you do this?

Marvin is under performing, but he still has 'upside' and a lot more value than Ryan Gomes and Damien Wilkins I feel.

I'll just say this. Anthony Randolph is languishing on the bench in Golden State and from where I sit Marvin would be the perfect Nellieball PF. Not sure what it would take to get a deal done but it sure seems like there is some potential there.
