So what happens with Tommie Harris?

Post#1 » by fisher » Sun Nov 8, 2009 10:42 pm

I figure he's going to get suspended for at least a game or two for that stupid penalty, but I'm more concerned about after the season. It's pretty clear he isn't the Tommie Harris of the 2004-2007 seasons that made him so high paid in the first place. Part of it may be the injury history breaking his body down (happens all the time in the NFL) and we always hear the typical "once Tommie gets back to form, we'll be an elite defense" stuff. But the longer this goes on the longer it becomes apparent that the Tommie Harris of old may not ever come back. In fact, I'm beginning to doubt it very much because he's got serious attitude issues. So, what happens to Harris this offseason?

Hopefully, this fires him up to be a better player, however unlikely,

He will never be the Tommie of old but he is still our best DT.

He will be released this offseason, get picked up by another team, and resurrect his NFL career with that new team.

Sadly I can see the this happening but you know, sometimes it's needed. We're all clamoring for his head now because he's such a distraction but when he gets cut/gets his **** together and puts it together for another team everyone's like wtf bears?

That's the part that depresses me. It's obvious this guy is dogging it (even after getting the huge money he wanted) and even then, he's by far the best interior DL we have. I honestly don't know what I'd do with him if I was Bears GM. Just wondering what others think will happen.
