Game Thread: Raptors (3-3) at Spurs (2-3)

Post#1 » by Nolan » Mon Nov 9, 2009 11:17 pm

When: 8:30 PM ET November 9, 2009
Where: AT&T Center, San Antonio, TX

Starting Lineups:

Spurs:
PG George Hill 9 PPG 1.2 APG 1.4 SPG
SG Keith Bogans 1.8 PPG 1.3 RPG
SF Richard Jefferson 13.6 PPG 3.2 RPG
PF Matt Bonner 6 PPG 3.2 RPG
C Tim Duncan 14.6 PPG 11.8 RPG 1.6 BPG

Raptors:
PG Jose Calderon 11.3 PPG 6 APG
SG DeMar DeRozan 5.2 PPG 3.2 RPG
SF Hedo Turkoglu 14.2 PPG 4.5 RPG 3.5 APG
PF Chris Bosh 28.5 PPG 11.8 RPG
C Andrea Bargnani 20.7 PPG 6.8 RPG

We've struggled a bit to start the season but we play 10 of the next 12 at home, so hopefully we can use that home court advantage to get ourselves on a bit of a role. The Raptors have been very inconsistent so far this year. They've looked really good at times and very bad at times. Historically the Raptors have struggled against us and even though Bosh has been playing amazing to start the season he's really had a tough time against us and Timmy D throughout his career.

Hate to break the news, but TD isn't playing against the Raps tonight due to a swollen ankle.

Guys, I wouldn't get too down just because you don't have TD and Parker...the Raps are just the team that ends up losing games that they really have no business doing so. We lost to the Magic without Lewis/Carter/Pietrus.

Goodluck to you guys tonight.

There's no "D" in Toronto Raptors...but there's a crap load of "O's"

Just seen that, ouch. Hopefully its nothing serious. RJ, Manu and Dyce are gonna have to step up and play like they can tonight if we wanna win.

Lol. the Raptors will have to play even HARDER if TP and Duncan are out because everybody would be all over them if we lose tonight.

Wow. TD and TP sitting this one out. Way too early in the season to start breaking down but better now than later I guess. Our team still has enough fire power to win but boy have we looked ugly lately. The D has just been none existant. Very unspurs like. Hopefully Manu can lead us to victory because 2-4 is not the start I was hoping for.

Good first quarter, Hill looked good. Jefferson still looks kinda out of his element.

Jeez, you guys getting all the calls. That touch foul on Rasho was a joke. And that call was seriously debatable. Hopefully the whole game is not like this. Sorry for the trolling.

Jeez we're horrible defensively. Honestly out offence is sick. But Jay needs to realize the defence is sucking. Not sure he realizes it though.

And please set some more picks for Jose. Turk don't come get the ball every time. Set a pick for Jose. He hasn't missed tonight.

Amen to that!

Neither team played any defense whatsoever but that's to be expected since it's the Raptors and Tim Duncan is out..Major props to Ginobili, Hill, Jefferson, and Bonner..They really picked up the offensive slack left with the absence of TD and TP..Whoever said Jefferson is a jump shooter is a straight up liar..The guy is a slasher plain and simple who happens to shoot jump shots when necessary..He's a pretty good passer and playmaker too making some pretty tough passes out of tight spots..George Hill is a straight up baller..I'm serious I couldn't tell if I was watching Tony Parker or George Hill by the way he attacked the basket..However the performance does lose some merit since it's Calderon and the Raptors, but still impressive nonetheless as the talent is visibly there..Bonner played his heart out and it showed when he put the ball down on the floor and went straight for the slam on two Raptors..Great to get the win though with Parker and Duncan out..Hopefully this is a sign for good things to come (not talking about the injuries of course)..

Well I'm the one who said Jefferson was becoming a jumpshooter and we need him more to be Richard Jefferson instead of Bruce Bowen v 2.0. That was after watching the 2nd game of the season. Hasn't seen him play since cause I haven't gotten a Spurs game yet other than that 2nd game. Statistically he's been awesome since the 3rd game until now so I don't know what changed. He was tentative and didn't ask for the ball from what I saw in that game and when he does get it, he's not as aggresive as he should be. My guess was that he's just trying to fit in at the time and taking whatever shots come his way.

I think the next Dallas game is on TV. I'm still not sure yet but my friend said so. I hope I get to see Jefferson be extra aggresive on this game especially with Tony and Duncan out.

Return to San Antonio Spurs
