OT: Sports Radio & TV Media Thoughts...

Post#1 » by DubaLakers » Tue Nov 10, 2009 5:28 am

TV: Stuart Scott made me write this today, he is an embarrasment. "Cool as the other side of a pillow" "Booyah" Rashard Mendenhall is Redunculous" I just got a little throw up in my mouth, who thinks this garbage still sells? It's a distraction to the game a side show of jackassedness.

I thought this Chris Berman's style was dead? Who tells this fool he's great at what he does? Someone does, or someone is afraid to tell him different. He's a polished sports journalist, but I can't watch him for more than a minute or two before I have to change the channel. Am I alone here, this garbage style still sells?

TV: If any of you have Direct TV, I suggest you DVR or watch the Dan Patrick Show it's a simulcast for 3 hours 6am-9am it's a very good radio show, and plays even better on tv. He had his studio man caved it's a fun 3 hours. I can't watch for three so I use my DVR.

Radio: I think Dan Patrick is the best in the biz right now. I also enjoy Petros, not so much Money. Money's a smart good dude, but he tries to be funny like Petros, and it just comes off forced or mean sarcastic. I also don't like Money's vocal range in and out up and down for effect, it not enjoyable, but Petros is pure gold. I love Ireland as well, but he's got a bad time slot. Colin Cowherd he's good, but he's an A#1 azz, everything is an analogy The Patriots are like a good lover...Women are like presents, everytime they....ohh shut up already!. The only thing that interests me about Cowherd besides his spanning the globe segment (brilliant) is finding out if he banging Michelle Beatle (He's recently seperated or divorced and he spends alot of time with this chick), that chick carries that Sports Nation show. Lastly old standby Rome, love Rome, but everytime I tune in he's talking about Horse Racing, Nascar, Soccer or Hockey all those things he used to slam and give no time to.

There's my two cents. Wow still steaming about Stuart Scott, I wanted to see a wrapup show of the game I can't watch it because of that yahoo. "Don't hate the player hate the game" "Booyaa" Michael Jordan & Stuart Scott were dating girls that roomed together at UNC, it's still going to his head.

Dub my man........sound like the cocktails are kicking in bro! OK joking here, I agree on a lot of your post except Dan Patrick and Petros. Dude is a walking zombie and Petros is a jackass. He knows football but he was the lowest of low life's the Trojans were getting during the garbage years. He's nothing but a little fat ass from San Pedro that top colleges didn't waste one recruiting dollar on. Money F'd up when he teamed with that ball of fat lard. He think he knows sport but he knows nothing really.

Anyway ESPN is about staying current and if Scott and Berman stay current they stay on the air period.

For awhile I thought Stuart Scott was entertaining but lately all the catch phrases are getting annoying...it's non-stop now. Agree that Dan Patricks one of the best...his section in the ESPN Mag is always a highlight.

As for Berman...this is pretty funny: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4pTYpyL_I0I
Thank you, Phil.

Petros voice is annoying. Plus he has ZERO basketball knowledge. I too think Matt Money is lowering himself by doing a show with petros. Money has knowledge. The best sports show for me is the Mason and Ireland show. I happen to like stuart scott, he's changed the game. He has everyone at espn talking slang...its pretty funny.

Dan Patrick on Direct TV is a blast show.

I like Money I do, I miss him as the Lakers pre and post guy he was great at that, but he doesn't have a great radio voice, and he makes it worse by his up and down in and out range IMO. He's not funny, but he tries to force funny i think Petros gets him wrapped up in the comedy routine. He's so bright and well read, he's got a lot of assets. I think he should take a page from hairpiece Hartman and let his intellect and observation lead the way, and leave the comedy routine and vocal roller coaster alone. I sent him an email and told him just that. I sent it with respect, but hopefully constructive critisism. He may respond assuming they read the emails, I'll post if he does. Who am I but a long time sports radio listener, but I think I know what's good and what isn't, and Money's got a lot of good, just needs a tweak IMO.

If you like Stuart Scott OR Colin Cowherd I can't help you are likely heavily medicated while listening or watching those two. . Women are a lot like cars you start them up....Booya, cool as the otherside of a pillow, redunculous, don't hate the player hate the game, YOu know what the Celtics are liek they are like a box of wine you know when...ahh shut up do the sports.

i agree with some parts and some i don't. first i don't think it was his choice to team up with Petros. Petros had one of the top rated radio shows on the ticket before that station went under. It was only a matter of time til he showed up on one KLAC and getting rid of wayne cook and grande who were just riding money's coattails was bound to happen.

as far as his comedy act, he was already doing it before petros ever showed up. its def. taken a much more prominent role ever since the change, but i still like it. i def. dont want him taking pointers from steve hartman whose entire radio personality is a tired act. i know these guys have to take a position and he's adopted the role of the antagonist, but its so fake its hard to take seriously. anyway, hartman is a stats geek, money actually understands the game and can express a calm, thoughtful, and on target analysis consistently. he's really the best guy on la sports radio, no contest.
