Shaq would be a great guy to bring off the bench or Bynum would be a great guy to bring off the bench if Shaq is given a starting job.

I don't see any downside to this.
As you can see this is a FAILED thread.............nobody wants Shaq back here in LA but only a few board members. We don't need no jock ridin Heat fan here telling us what our weakness is. Yeah that same bench was torching teams last season, you clowns (outsiders) need to come off this notion that all 5 bench guys are going to play at the same damn time. That'll only happen in a blowout.

there really isn't even enough minutes to go around for odom/gasol/bynum, much less shaq. what would be the point in bringing in that circus when shaq would have the exact same role as dj mbenga. gimme dj.

I would hate it just purely from the basketball standpoint of, his pick and roll defense.

Fisher and Shaq guarding the pick-n-roll would be hilarious.

He made a mistake dissing mamba now hes paying for it seeing kobe win probably broke his heart, I think if we repeat again though and shaq shows interest in returning as a backup the lakers might consider it as long as kobe has 1 more ring lol

Shaq burned the ties to the Lakers. Let him screw up LBJ and make them play the Celts in the first rounds and Shaq will be sitting beside Barkley on TNT doing analysis of the finals with the Lakers vs. whoever.

People with the notion that we need a deeper bench are deluded. In the playoffs we will have an 8 man rotation and there is not and will never be again a place for Shaq on this team. Personal problems aside, he cannot defend the pick and roll to save his life and our major weakeness the past few post seasons has been getting burned by opposing pg's..

Don't need to add any diesel to this fire thats for sure!

NOW HOLD ONNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNN......................... I want Shaq back and I prmoise you guys he will be back here in LA. You got to be crazy not to let him retire in LA. The dude gave his best years here in LA. SO what if he talked ish to Kobe and so and so and so and so. The dudes a H.O.F and the closest player to K.A.J to every play this game. He knows the triangle and he knows he's not going to be a starter. Can you people imagine our lineup of Shannon, Kobe, Artest, Pau and Shaq on the floor at the sametime.
Better yet
Lamar at the point, Kobe at the two, Pau at the three  Shaq at the four just cleaning up boards and Bynum starting center. Thats four legit 7 footers on the floor that can run.
Shaq playing in LA is to LA benefit. Stop being butt hurt about WHAT HE SAID. We won threepeats with this guy and he gave everything he had for us Laker fans. IM DOWN WITH HIM and I want him to finish he's career here in LA. He deserves it, he has earned it and I bet you Buss will allow it, specially if he signs for cheap. Why not?

HELL NO do I want to see Shaq back with the Lakers. Just the thought of it makes me nauseous. Shaq talked to much Image. He burned his bridges.

Besides I doubt Shaq takes a bench role. His ego is too big. I see him pulling an A.I. an being a little bitch.

No thanks. That would be a dumb move IMO.

We reached the finals two times in a row w/o shaq. Where exactly would shaq be taking us whos way past his prime now?

Is he gonna take us beyond the NBA finals?

Only if they want to destroy team chemistry and watch Kobe walk away from the Lakers when his contract expires in 2011.

I would maybe consider taking Shaq back... but one problem...

He comes back from the off season out of shape. He needs the regular season to get back into shape. He's going to come off the bench, so less mins. That tells me he's never gonna get in shape. So he's not gonna help this team that's gone to the finals AND won one championship, and are favored to repeat.

So besides the circus he brings and the bad history, WHY?

Shaq & LO off the bench.

Shaq & Kobe might actually like one last time around. The redemption story. Also would make Kobe look mature and would put the bad break up behind them once and for all. Especially if the Lakers win a few more championships by having 2 different dynastys w/ Kobe as captain.

Whats shaq going to be able to do.. Already he looks slow on the Cavs team, he has lost the jump step game that he had, if u watch the cavs game u realize this is not the same shaq that he was with the lakers.

Coming off bench he will have to face quicker guys who will take charges or out run him and get easy hoops..

So no way no.. this should not be done.. We have enough athletic 7 footers on the team..
