Got to take Hawks and the over. Don't expect much D in MSG.

Only by 5.5? I'd assume it was, like, at least 9 or so.

Re: Atlanta at New York
Last year we lost both games in New York by 8 and 4 respectively, so maybe we should not get too overconfident. Having said that the Knicks haven't been very good this year. Although last game they rallied from down 17 at half to only lose by 2 to the Jazz. I was actually surprised to see that their scores have been relatively low this year, which makes me rethink my position and I'm going to avoid the o/u on this one because it is a bit too unpredictable.

Unlike the Charlotte team, NY couldn't play decent defense if they were standing in front of a firing squad. Hell their coach is Dantoni, it isn't in his DNA and he doesn't have the firepower or chemistry on that team to compensate. Hawks are a little challenged defensively themselves but are night and day to NY in the fire power area.
So in that regard: Hawks 80 Knicks 78, JK.
Hawks 117 Knicks 104 A lot of garbage time with the Knicks doing a lot of the mop up work.

Yeah, but I had a bad feeling about the Bobcats, who are kind of sucking but are competent. There's no way we shouldn't blow out NY.

Don't count on the Hawks blowing anyone out on the road. They only did that 2 or 3 times out of a possible 46 road games last year.

^^ He's still taken a few shots just inside the 3 point line which are just as bad but don't get called out in a box score. I'm encouraged, but like with other addicts with their demons, bad jump shot addicts must fight a constant struggle with their desires to launch low percentage shots. He's admitted his problem and come to the meeting, I just want to say "Hi Josh" and hope he feels the love in the room.

TBH I kind of have the same problem, where some night I can hit my open mid-range J's and 3's (which I guess would be a foot inside the NBA 3), so when the defense is giving the shot to me I often take it just because some nights I'll be able to drain like 60% of them... on off nights though it's... bad. And demoralizing.
I empathize, Josh!

I'm hoping that Smoove figures out he has (almost) the athleticism of Dominique Wilkins AND the same scoring ability. From PF, against slower defenders, he could be amazing.

Re: Atlanta at New York
I think there may be a spot about 2 or 3 feet closer to the basket that the defender can't just sag way off Josh. I love when Josh blows by the defender when they try to close out on him at mid-range, but when he stands just inside the 3 point line the defender would just dare him to shoot and live with the consequences. I understand that he's spacing the floor to open up the middle for Joe or Jamal to drive by design, but if the defender doesn't respect you at the spot then your effectiveness spacing the floor is limited.

Just switching back and forth between the Knicks feed and the Hawks feed and boy does Sports South blow. It looks like they are playing on 2 different courts.

I love how Nique is giving the Knicks defense credit when the Hawks are just standing around while Joe holds the ball. I'd love to see how good the Knicks defense would play if we actually attempted to move the ball.

Horford showing off that strong post game against the undersized front line of the Knicks.

We tried to get Horford going in that quarter and it failed miserably.
Nice move by Woody inserting Mo for Bibby in the final minute of that quarter. I'm glad he is taking Bibby out late in quarters for defensive purposes.
Knicks hit some tough shots in that quarter. If we can just keep the pressure on them and execute a bit more on D I think we can be up 5-10 points at half.

I dont know if the Knicks are hitting tough shots. It seem like all their points are layups. It's only 8 games but the defense looks noticeably worse than last year.

Actually I'm watching the Knicks feed and Walt Frazier is bringing up how our team is selfish, ESPECIALLY Joe.
