how long can nash keep this?

Post#1 » by dd2410 » Wed Nov 11, 2009 12:14 am

first post here. as a raptors fan, suns is definitely my second team to support. last year is a disaster for me, and can't endure to see nash's disappointed face and kind of shutdown suns game. i thought we might be even worse this year(shame on me and the media) .suns are truly amazing, and to me nash is still the best PG in the league and hope he can continue forever
btw, all star balllot is out, vote for suns player to start now.

Finally! A new topic to discuss.

Are you wanting to know our thoughts on how much longer Nash will hold up career wise? Or how much longer Nash can continue to run the offense this efficiently for the remainder of the season?

I don't see any reason why he couldn't keep up this type of play all year, injuries aside. Injuries can ruin just about anyone's season, though.

For at least three more years after this one. The guy is in great shape, and he keeps himself that way. He doesn't come in out of shape, and have to work himself into shape, which would be too up and down for an aging player.

It also helps if Dragic can keep up a good play to spell Nash. His minutes are at 35 per game, but I really think that could go down with a healthy LB. I actually would like to see more Nash and Dragic together, utilizing Nash's shooting.

I'm not too sure how Nash will hold up through the rest of his career. Each season, we hear how he is getting older, and won't be able to keep up with the pace, but then he comes out and has 2 20-20 games, so really for me, its hard to gauge.

This season, through the first 8 games he is averaging 34.5 min/gm. Hopefully, that can come down a bit. Usually towards the back end of the season a nagging injury will come up. If Nash can rest more during the middle of the season, hopefully those injuries that could be from playing too many regular season minutes at such an intense pace can be minimised, plus it gives Dragic more playing time, which is valuable for the clubs continuing success.

I think he'll play another five years, for all the reasons cited regarding his commitment to his body and his education about maximizing his health and conditioning. He's already talked about playing another three years and then maybe going overseas.

the media always says Nash is aging and will slow down. it's the same story every single year. they looked at numbers from last year (in a reaaaaaaaally crappy Porter system for the majority of it) and made this assumption. nash takes such good care of his body that he can definitely keep this up for another 3-5 years. it's not like he's a 7-footer constantly getting banged around, though he has had his share of getting knocked around (horry :/)

Steve Nash is a freak of nature, and Portland fans would have loved him. Plus he might have gotten Nate to break out some running offenses sooner and more frequently than we're seeing now...

I have to say that Nash is my favorite player outside of anyone on the Blazers roster.

Well when you factor in things like joint problems, arthritis, vision problems and social security checks, id say 65.

Seriously though, till hes 40.
