Rondo was bench in the 4th because of that one play where he took his time bringing the ball up the court, failed to set the offense, and took a 26 foot 3 as the clock was expiring. That was one of the worst plays/lack of effort I've seen in a while.

Scalarine hit two key shots and his defense was great. Scalabrine was a spark off the bench that when needed.

I wish that I could say that this post was one of the "worst false recollections" I have read on here regarding Rondo in a long time, but unfortunately it isn't. They were running a set, it got broke and the ball got KICKED BACK OUT to Rondo, he tried to set up another play, ran out of time and jacked up a three. That is what ACTUALLY happened.

So 16 pts isn't enough, but 5 is? 3 huge shots in the 4th isn't enough, but 2 shots in the 3rd is?

You mean defense, as in fouling peope all the time? And picking up a CLEAR PATH foul, that could have screwed us? And 'set the tone'..come on guys...he hit a 3 pt shot..ONE 3 pt shot..how is that setting the tone?

Celtics fan base really needs to stop liking Scal just because he is fat and red headed..if I had not watched the game, I would think he put up 32 and 12 reading some of the posts here..gee..put Shelden Williams in his position, and this cigar EASILY goes to Rondo or Ray..

Bottom line is you expect Pierce and Ray to play well. They are stars and they didn't step up. 16 from Pierce isn'y enough, and neither is 12 from Ray. Everyone on this team underachieved in this game, except for Scalabrine and Shelden Williams. His two baskets came at a time when we needed them. And he played great defense. And that clear path foul was some B.S. Scal was ahead of that play.

So basically what your saying is, Scal sucks really bad, but he sucked less than usual, got a whopping 5 points, so he should get it?Ok..I get you.

IMO, there was still 2 players in this game that should have ruined Scal's career game..and they were Allen and Rondo. Allen made the 3 biggest shots of the night, and Rondo was solid for 3 quarters.
WHAT THEY GON’ SAY NOW? ‎ THANK YOU TRUTH!

I gave it to Scal because he was the turning point of the game with his paltry 5 points. It was those two baskets that put us up for good after we were LOSING going into the 4th. Yes, Rondo played great before Scal and yes Ray hit big buckets after but with the points Scal scored I could feel the momentum shift (and after yelling at my computer screen for 3 quarters for our players to play better this was very welcomed). It was a game that felt like if we could just get something going, ANYTHING going, we could pull away and Scal delivered that (yes, there were other leads but it didn't feel the same to me, and of course NJ climbed right back in rather easily).

So +1 to Scal for that momentum shift.

I stand corrected. Rondo didn't walk the ball up. Sheed passed it back to Rondo, who was about 30 feet from the basket. When Rondo had the ball, there was still 18 seconds left on the shot clock. Rondo didn't try to set up another play. Infact he moved about 4 feet the entire 18 seconds he had the ball. I was a strange moment. That's why Tommy even got upset.

I didn't Tivo the game, but my recollection was Rondo had the ball in his hands for about 6 or 8 seconds not 18 seconds. He looked to pass it, but the passing lane was closed, he realized that the clock was winding down, and backed up to give himself room to get the defender on his heals, took a couple of dribbles toward the rim then pulled up so he could take the jumper.
