kinda OT: QB to WR

Post#1 » by Howling Mad » Sun Oct 21, 2007 6:15 pm

I'm currently watching the NE and MIA game and I can't pick my mouth up off the floor.

Seeing Tom Brady throw into double coverage twice only to see Randy Moss make a spectacular catch has me wondering.

Which QB to WR connection rivals that of Brady to Moss? ...and which ones do you like better?

My personal favorite is Montana to Rice. I love just saying it. Montana to Rice. Montana to Rice. Montana to Rice. Montana to Rice.

Some other notables are Manning to Harrison(or Wayne). Young to Rice. Aikman to Irvin. Marino to NOBODY! lol. Warner to Bruce or Holt. Theismann to Monk. Kelly to Reed. Hostetler to Brown. etc etc.

Anyways I'm sure some of the older fellas have their favorites, which I've never seen play, I'd like to hear 'em.

How about Harbaugh to Waddle? McMahon to Gault? ok maybe not, but had to throw in a Bear connection somewhere in there.

The first one that comes to mind is Montana to Rice.

Me too, although I was a huge huge huge 49er fan when I was a kid. To me the Montana to Rice spectacular plays looked so simple.

With Brady to Moss, it looks like Moss is just using his athleticism and jumping into Heaven's penthouse to catch the ball.

Montana to Rice was all about Precision and having the play set up a big run after the catch.

Rice was in tip top shape but wasn't blessed physically like Moss was. Therefor I find Montana to Rice more impressive.

I grew up to Montana to Rice. They were the best, and what they accomplished, will be tough to beat.

I also liked Young to Rice. Brady to Moss has a bit of a ring to it, better than Manning to Harrison.

It'll be nice to see next year: McNabb to Berrian, McNabb to Olsen or McNabb to HESTER for the GAMEWINNER???

But presently, it'll be McNabb to Tillman, only to set up the GameWinning FG by Robbie Gould.

I know we can't say Brady to Moss is better than Montana to Rice, well because this is the first year of B to M; but they're looking awfully good. They'd also have to win a couple superbowls to be rightfully compared to Montana to Rice.

That Griese to Benson was pretty nice today. I think we can use the screen more since no one expects it.

Lineup Hester on one side and have Garret Wolfe flank to the other.

His speciality in college was pretty much the screen pass. He's a pretty elusive guy standing at 5'6''/7''ish.
