Not a chance. That guy is a nutjob. I liked him when he was on the Celtics, but he's insane (literally).

But he can still play....would be a great back up 1/2....worth getting and waiting on until he is better, managing his illness more appropriatly?

Re: Delonte West
I think he'd be way more of a distraction than anything. He's a decent ball player, but the baggage far outweighs the little he'd end up bringing to this team.

House does about the same thing as West - but is a true professional with his priorities in order. D. West had all guys of ego issues about coming off the bench while he was here. And now over in Cleveland the guy has started to totally freak out. He is mentally unstable..

Re: Delonte West
Delonte West case shows how really excellent the Celtics development system is. When he was here, his pyschological issues were under control, and he developed.
It seems in Cleveland his pyschological issues are dominating. I hope the best for him.
I don't see how he comes back. We need to concentrate talent and draft chips. I don't see how he brings either.

Im gonna say no too. He wasn't bad when he was here but half of what I liked about him was his upside. He still may get better, but he is not that young anymore. Disturbing the chemistry wouldn't be worth adding him in. Gomes on the other hand I would take back in a second.

Re: Delonte West
If he would be ok with coming off the bench then I would love to have him even with his off-court issues. He's much better than house as he's more than just a spot up shooter. He also provides good man defense and can run the point well. Plus it'd be like having Manny back.

Re: Delonte West
Honestly, I was heart broken when he was traded. I love the guy. He was such a Celtic at heart. It took years for my wife to get over the trade.
I hope he can find a stable, healthy personal space. It is so difficult in this day and age for a young man to move out of the nest. The Celtics are such a great "in loco parentis" type organisation. The big three take these young guys under their wing, just like Tommy, Cous and Max try to guide the big three.
I've sent two sons out into this world and its tough out there.

Re: Delonte West
If he is on his meds then yes I would want him, always liked him as a celtic and he does 90% of what house does on offense with better ballhandeling and is a much better defender, but if he is off his meds keep him far away from the team.

Re: Delonte West
good to see some empathetic replies....disheartening to see so many clean 'hell no' responces...
What about if we were able to sign him and wait till he got his illness (as it is an illness....like diabetes, that requires managment) under control....he may be good to go later in the year.....how is it different to all of you who wanted to sign a hobbled Leon Powe..........

Re: Delonte West
Mental issues aside.....I'll ask the same question I asked of Gomes.
Who on this roster is sitting for him to play?
I don't understand these trade ideas. Is this just sentimental or what? Our rotation is set. Barring injury, this is the team we are going to war with this year, and I'm A-OK with that. Who isn't, and why? That's the question that comes to mind when I see people proposing we add players to fill spots that are already filled quite adequately, IMO.

This wasn't a crazy trade idea...this is/was a hypothetical topic....would you want Delonte West on the Celtics.....more an exploration into Realgm posters feelings about his situation than a question of rosters....I was interested to see how people felt about mental illness in general i guess....
