What Would You Do To Make Lakers Better

Post#1 » by Mamba Venom » Thu Nov 12, 2009 7:11 am

What would you do to make the Lakers better???

Here is my list
1) Get Phil Jackson to get Artest really into zen. Artest is so into Chinese culture that it shouldn't be that hard.

2) Sacrifice some of our bench & expirings to get an upgrade at the point/combo guard spot. A team only needs to be 9 deep. Don't get me wrong, I really like our team but if it means we have to get rid of Farmar, Powell, Brown, Sasha, Ammo and our slew of 2nd round picks so be it.

point / Fish
Kobe
Artest / Luke
Gasol / LO
Bynum / DJ

3) Hire Kareem as an assistant coach and have him take over scouting duties on a few teams that have horrible big men and make game plans where Bynum & Gasol can dominate.

4) Have a contest giveaway for a pair of court-side seats, but not just any court-side seats, the court-side seats next to Jack.

5) Work a championship incentive into every players contract. Forget individual stat bonuses. If the Lakers win you get paid more. That way when it comes down to negotiations in the future Mitch can say Luke you are worth 3 iml but if we win you are worth 4 mil.
Lakers are 22-3 in OT last 6 seasons:Kobe best OT closer!

Here's what i'd do. Leave the team alone, let them get healthy & watch them win another title.

Trade Sasha for Maria and get her in for 2 points a game so she beats Alexa's 1.0 a game average. Have her cherry pick for a quick 2.

get a starting PG who is relatively young, move Fish to back-up. that is my one wish this year.

I am willing to give up anyone and everyone outside of our top 6.

Only thing that I see making us better above is maybe a combo guard, but we are good enough, deep enough, and incentivized enough, ad well enough coached to win rings. And Kareem already has worked with Bynum. :o

How is giving away courtside seats going to make us better?

I would try to trade (Farmar,Sasha,) for (Ramon Session) and maybe a second rounder since the T-Wolves GM is ready to change the roster because of poor play from his team. 8-)

What's the point of giving everyone playoff bonuses? The players that matter get that in their contract. Just making the playoffs means more checks for everyone, anyway. Regular pay until your season is over. Winning the Finals is a lump sum that gets split, so even more money!

If anything, it's set up to be a little too generous because rotations dwindle in April, nobody gets cut, and a lot of free money is just given to scrubs taken off the active roster, ala Adam Morrison.

Oh and those courtside tickets are pretty much never available. The waiting list for PSL's down there is bad business to just give away.
