Sessions for Young and McGee

My thoughts -- Young and McGee are getting hardly any burn for the Wiz. The Wiz absolutely need a point guard who is a distributor first. Arenas would mostly play off the ball with Foye backing him up. Miller would back up Butler.

We would get a year and half to llok at Young as our starting 2. McGee looks to be an upgrade over Hollins for 20-25 minutes a night at the 5 once Love returns. Hart get minutes at the 1 in the mean time, until we wait for Wall or Rubio.

Yeah, I don't think Young and McGee have shown much.

I think Young for the Wiz is probably no more than McCants was for us 2 years ago. They would be better served moving him now than to let his value either (1) continue to diminish, or (2) increase so they can't afford to resign him. The rest of their roster is set up to win now and the team needs a point guard pretty bad. McGee is needed to get a player of Sessions caliber, a player who has shown he can start in this league. The team has Blatche and Haywood playing ahead of him, so it's not like he's going to be getting any major burn anytime soon.

Then again, I guess it's always hard to trade old first rounders. Just look at how Wolves fans held on to McCants, Foye, and now Brewer only to see their value diminish over time.

Haywood's a free agent, and I know Washington fans were pretty high on McGee during the offseason. I don't how well a backcourt of Sessions, Foye, and Arenas would work.

I do not do this deal.

I think if we are going to move the asset of Sessions then we combine it with an exp or another asset for a single player at the needed position.

Personally, unless someone does do that kind of deal then I keep Sessions. I like having a true pg off the bench.

if the wizards don't get better by the all star break, there will be lots of deals by then if not before.....But will they "try to win one more time" or dump their older guys... like Haywood? ...with his expiring contract?

One Direction:

They might become a "yard sale" for other playoff teams. They could find a market for Haywood and possibly Butler and Jamison's contracts. But Arenas is not "tradeable" in my view. Too much money for too many years, and injury concerns still dominate.

The other Direction:

Many of their key players except Jamison are in their prime. They could try to keep those they like best or those they can't trade (like Arenas) and dump the rest.

Something will be done, if they don't start winning. What precisely is unclear.

I'd definitely do this, I'd include the Utah pick for sure as well; I might even do it with the Charlotte pick included, actually I probably would still

Because McGee has shown that he might develop into a decent C last season and Young's value is as low as it can possibly get right now.

They'll want to keep McGee and Young needs to improve his trade value before they will trade him.

I'd do it. I like McGee a lot, and Sessions is a more developed player for the Wizards.

I just stopped by to mention that if the Wizards continue to struggle, their owner may want to do a deal to cut into the lux tax, and we could probably get a prospect in a large expiring swap by sending them a TPE for some of our 2009-10 salary.

I do it, but I think they don't. They might though, it's a good idea. That fills their needs this year and Sessions is young and cheap for 3 years. This is not a bad way to go. If they plan on resigning Haywood, this deal looks a lot more reasonable.
