What fair value for CP3?

Post#1 » by raptorsfan_04 » Fri Nov 13, 2009 1:15 am

12 team head to head standard 9 cats

I was going to offer CP3, John Salmons and Udonis Haslem for Josh Smith, Rajon Rondo and Luis Scola.

You'd be getting more than you give, but not so much that the offer's ridiculous.

I'd rather keep CP3, no doubt about it. If you trade CP3 you surely be getting a complete stud in return. While Smith has been close to that, I'd rather see a bit more than 7 games before giving him that honor. I think Salmons will improve upon that FG% as well and be a viable option.

Unless you have Dwight Howard+Other FT% killers, don't do the trade.

If I was ever lucky enough to own CP3, EVER, and I considered trading him, I'd need a guaranteed top 10 player + a guaranteed top 20 player + Solid filler. So I think you're selling yourself short here.

If you are tanking FT%, then look to get some more value in that third player instead of Scola. Or don't include Salmons.

I agree with all the guys up there. You'd be giving up a lot. CP3 is too good for that offer. I'd rather keep CP3 and build players around him, I don't know if you want to do that. Or, get his 2nd and 3rd pick, if their good for your team.

If someone is trading for the #1 player in fantasy they have to overpay IMO in which he isn't coming close to doing in this trade.

Why trade him at all? Just for something to do?

general rule of thumb... never trade your number 1 pick UNLESS you're getting either a guy who was drafted earlier or the other teams number 1 and 2 picks. It's just bad business to do otherwise. When you look at the champs at the end of the year they will have 2 first round caliber guys most of the time.

Ask yourself.. "Am I selling high or am I selling low?"

Rule of the thumb: "Always Sell HIGH and Buy LOW."

Would people say that Paul's injury takes away his top 3 spot in roto?

He's still top 3 in my opinion if he plays 70 games and everyone else plays 80 games.
