If we have to trade Amare...

Post#1 » by Jimmy76 » Sat Nov 14, 2009 6:19 am

Lets try to get Josh Smith

great passer for his position, good rebounder, stopped shooting 3's, CAN FINISH (im lookin at you Amare), plays great defense both help and man and would be absolutely unleashed offensively going from Atlanta's iso heavy offense to the Suns run and gun with Nash

putting up 18/8/5 with 3 blocks and 2 steals per 36 (playing 32 right now) shooting 59% and hes got ambition saying he wants to be an all-star and 1st team defense player

I know we dont want to mess up our chemistry but id make this trade right now if i could (obviously with whatever fillers)

Too bad the odds are slim to none it happens

edit:also hes young at 23 years old and locked up at about 12 million per year over the next 4 years so no worries about the whole free agency thing

edit 2: Mo Evans+Josh Smith for Amare works DO IT KERR!

No! You seriously underestimate Amare's role on offense. He sets screens for everybody and generally has a great sense of positioning to complement Nash. Now he is developing this soft jump hook around basket instead of trying to force a dunk, he will be a much better allaround go-to scorer. Suns have been winning games with halfcourt game, not fastbreaks where Josh might be better than Amare with younger legs.

I think Josh Smith could also operate in the pick and roll and it would definitely be a good deal long term and maybe be a good deal short term too

Yeah that would be a good trade if they decide to trade Amare that is.

Joe Johnson would bitch his way outta town again if he had to lose the spotlight to Amare again...

I'd only move Amare for Josh if he refuses to sign a reasonable extension with us.

Hey guys, if possible would you do a Nash+Amare for Paul+West trade since NOR isn't going anywhere with that roster. :D

i dunno we have a good thing going right now...

HELL YES!!! :D

(im opposed to all little trades since our chemistry is so good right now but we should be open to trades than greatly increase our future prospects)

Paul + Amare would be killing the league! Amare is a world better at pick-n-roll than West, or any other bigman in the league. Unlike Nash, Paul is a real threat to attack the basket after the pick, which will open the space even more while drawing fouls from the helping bigs of the defense. On defense, Paul is even more better. Geeze, as long as Amare's knees are Ok, that's a championship team.

I used to not really like Josh Smith, but he -- like Amare -- seems to be "getting it" this year.

If you going to trade him you better extend him first.

This. I'm guessing we could find a way to make it JRich/Amar'e + fillers for Johnson/Smith if Johnson decided he might want to come back, considering he has stated he will likely be leaving Atlanta anyways.

I think if we trade Amar'e we need a legitimate center and move Frye to PF. That would still help with spacing. I would love a guy like Horford or Okafor... But hey, who knows, we haven't seen Lopez yet this year, maybe he will pan out and we can use him for significant mins against teams like the Lakers. I like this line-up...

Nash
Barbosa
JRich
Amare
Lopez

Obviously not for starting line-up, but we used JRich at SF last year

Amar'e wants to stay in PHX. all those trade rumors are long gone. GHill and Nash just made a commitment to this team by signing extensions. I'm sure that will keep Amar'e in PHX for a few more years. plus at this point we have the best record in the league and he's playing good ball not great just good ball but getting better every game.

If we were to lose Amare, we'd have to get another post-presence offensively. Okafor wouldn't cut it. Bosh is the only other option I see that would still make our offense work effectively. We need an anchor in the middle and Josh Smith doesn't do that. Although I would enjoy Josh Smith in a Suns uniform.

i agree with some people here. JSmooth doesn't solve our problems one bit. JSmooth is a good player but not great. Amar'e has been great before when he's not injured.
