The Kings are un-defeated when a-rod makes the game thread! Keep it up a-rod ;)

Have to say, Kenny Thomas was HUGE tonight. Played some great defense and came down with some huge boards.

If Jason and Spencer ever play well at the same time this team will be unstoppable, hahaha.

During this game, I was sitting in the pressbox of my Saint Mary's Gaels/New Mexico State contest, constantly flipping to ESPN to see how this game was going XD

Both of my teams won today. I'm very happy.

Observations:

Ariza shut down Evans in the second. Kudos to him, he's the real deal (although he struggled in the second).

Hawes had a bad game, but he still found a way to be a factor. Rebounds and....defense???? Thompson is a future allstar, end of story. He was dominant. Shout out to all the haters.

Evans' stats are deceiving. There was one TO credited to him that was NOT his fault. Thompson mishandled a pass but Tyreke got the TO. ALSO, Tyreke had at least 2 setups where his man was foulded. Would have been 6 assists instead of 4. So Evans had a bad second half but was still a factor. Teams are changing their game plans because of this guy.

Udoka is just solid. Love the signing. Defense, solid shooting.

Beno is just bossing people up and making them look stupid.

Noc can be the worst person on the team when he's off. But when he's on this team flourishes.

This team has AMAZING team chemistry. They all look like they are close, in to the game, even KENNY THOMAS is into it teaching the rooks.

Love the chemistry, the energy, the hustle and the boarding.

Most underrated player on the Kings right now? John Brockman. Simply a beast. No one understands just how athletic this guy is. He's not just a hustler, he gets UP!!!

I might have more to say when I'm done "celebrating" and my mind is more "clear" ;)

Some Notes on Spencer.

Tonight he really struggled but it wasn't all his fault. The guys kept giving him the ball in bad places for him to score. He doesn't yet have the strength to force his way through guy the same way that Thompson does yet they gave him the ball in the post 3 times where he was already facing a double team. They weren't doubling spencer on purpose but it kept happening on the switch and beno and evans kept giving him the ball anyway. The other part of this is that spencer shouldn't have forced the attempt he should have passed back out of the double team instead of trying to bully his way into the paint. IF he were stronger the double teams wouldn't be such a big deal but he's not and should pass out of them.

Another note is that when spencer is forcing it he takes bad shots we really need to get him looks within the flow of the game becuase when he is asked to create his own offense it is just plain bad. He takes a hurried 3 instead of within the flow of the game he drives into the lane only to have 3 defenders collapse in on him. We can't allow him to try to create his own offense when he's playing so poorly we really need to get him open looks within the offense and I can guarantee his numbers will go back up and he will be more productive.

I have hated on Kenny Thomas for years now, but I must say I like the energy he is bringing on rebounding and defense in his short PT as of late. His offense is still ass, but I don't mind that in that few of minutes.

I think there are a couple of things this year that are having positive influences on KT. First is the fact that we have a coach who actually knows how to coach a team. After Adelman was let go we had coaches who basically gave up on KT because he was "not part of the future". Well, KT may not be part of the future, but he is part of the present and is a piece who can play a role when given direction. Westphal recognizes the role KT can play and has apparently chosen to motivate him to fill that role.

Second thing about KT that is in our favor is the fact that he's now in a contract year. He knows he's not part of our future, but he could be a bit part for other teams needing to fill some gaps. He needs to make the most out of every minute he's on the floor so he has some hope for the future. Fortunately we will be the recipients of his attempt to earn a future paycheck.
This space needs to be filled with a new sig...but I'm too lazy to make one.

Coach Westphal was Murray's stunt double in Zombie Land.
