They're both from the other side of the pond and didn't Beno play for Maccabi Tel Aviv one year or so.

Right. They both played for Maccabi at the age of 20. Udrih did at 2002/3.
But he still remember some words in Hebrew :) I saw him in Poland during the Eurobasket (he was injured and didn't play), approached to him and wished him be healthy....
btw, it is not and easy thing for him - he is combination of being Slovenian (most of the Slovenian team got injured during the Eurobakset and two more at the beginning of the season) plus he is a King...

Omri Casspi once visited the Virgin Islands, now they're just called the Islands.

This is interesting:

Casspi vs. Jackson: Kings rookie not bothered:

Omri Casspi is winning over fans in Sacramento with his style of play.

One person who isn't too fond of Casspi is Golden State Warriors forward Stephen Jackson. You can read what Jackson had to say about Casspi here courtesy of Marcus Thompson of the Contra Costa Times.

Apparently Jackson doesn't think Casspi will be a "factor" in the NBA and didn't want to be asked about the Kings' rookie.

If Casspi bothers Jackson after two meetings, one in the preseason and Sunday's game, it the rookie is already a factor.

I asked Casspi today if he had fun playing against Jackson. Casspi said he has "fun playing basketball" but didn't seem bothered that Jackson doesn't seem to like him.

Casspi addressed the situation with a grin.

"Both of us played hard," Casspi said. "I like him as a player, he's a good player. I got a chance to compete and I like to compete. He's a great player. I'm happy that I made a difference."

Casspi's style means he doesn't back down from a challenge. He's feisty on the floor. That can be annoying to some players, especially when it comes from a rookie.

Casspi doesn't know if his style just annoyed Jackson, but he has no plans to stop.

"I'm not sure about (Jackson) but need to keep it up like this," Casspi said. "Sometimes I got down and wasn't playing as aggressive ... I've got to be more consistent."

.....

That was premature of Jackson's part. Who knows, maybe Casspi is going to be a star in this league and his name recognition will be better received than Jackson himself. Ever thought about that Mr. Jackson? Image

This what Jackson said:

Q: What do you think of Casspi?

“Uhhhh. Who?”

Casspi? No. 18 off the bench, talking?

“Don’t ask me no questions about him. Ask me questions about somebody who’s going to be a factor in this league.”

I would love to see Omri start, but the last game really showed how much Westphal trust him- after a huge win at Utah without (the injured) Casspi- he played 30+ minutes. Now thats confidence.

P.S. What do you think are his chances making the All-star?

I cant wrap my head around one thing about Omri- he never was a perimeter shooter before he landed in Sacramento (he could easily drive to the basket in Europe or in our national league). It can be explained, of course, by hard work on that aspect in the last several months (or maybe longer- who knows?). The unusual thing is that his free throws % declined ALOT.

Can anyone please explain to me how is it possible?

The only thing i can think of is that he changed his entire throwing motion and adjusted it for long range shots, but the "new move" doesnt work so well on a short range.

Is it a plausible explanation or do you think its just a mental issue? Or is it just a bit too early to reach any conclusions?

Ohh and btw- did you hear the Houston TV dudes going all crazy about him? Hehe.. I loved that! 8-)

In Pete Carril, we have a guy who will go down as one of the greatest shooting coaches of all time. It would not surprise me one bit if he was able to increase Omri's range just during the summer by helping him to realize that he has the leverage at his length to hit that shot either set or in motion.

Fantasy question: Do you think Casspi will get consistent minute from the 28-33 range?

If he plays well (best case scenario)- 30 min/game until Garcia returns. It seems that he already earned 25+ min/game.

If Noc will get traded then yes, he will get a lot of minutes even after Garcia's return. in the other hand, if the Kings will start playing with a small lineup like Portland with Beno-Evans-Martin then Casspi may lose alot of minutes to the range of 10-15...

That's not accurate.
His release does look a LOT better. However, last season his 3pt % was good. Obviously he shot much less 3pt, because why just shoot behind the arc if can get easily to the rim? Now it's harder and also his role is different so shoots much more of them, and as said before his technique is better.

Ladies and gents I have photoshopped a pic based on my new "Inglourious Basterds" inspired nickname for Omri...
