Anthony: Lakers signed Artest to guard me

Post#1 » by DaDragicShow » Sun Nov 15, 2009 6:22 am

Nuggets star Carmelo Anthony believes that the Lakers signed Ron Artest to help contain him offensively.

"I think so," Anthony said before Friday's tilt between Denver and Los Angeles.

"I think they do a great job just focusing in on getting the ball out of my hands and making somebody else score the basketball or win the game.

"They won it last year, don't get me wrong. But they feel much more complete now getting Artest. I would too, though."

Pretty interesting. What do you guys think of this?

I am not here to stir trouble. I'm just wondering Laker fans opinion on what Melo said.

It doesn't matter last nights lost sucked but it's a loss, DEN thinks they just took the championship away from the LAL or something F them. Ty Lawson trade/swap was the steal of the draft I was so pissed draft day. That MIN franchise is being run by monkeys. I hope Pau rest until the all star break the LAL are gonna blow people out the second half. F the Fuggets & F the Feltics.

Yeah we got him to shut down all these dudes............if the refs let him play obviously last night they didn't. But Mr.Anthony better know he ain't getting the same calls in Staples Center.............believe that.

It has nothing to do with Anthony. Ron was the best the Lakers could do with the little amount of money they had. Ariza was gone. Ron wanted to be here. So it made sense for all. Ron is a better player, but I think Ariza has more of a upswing long term. This will be watched for a few years to see who got the better. Who wins more and who goes deeper into the playoffs.

The nuggets beat us in the regular season in denver last year too. How have things changed from last year? If losing to them in the regular season means we get to win the championship again, no big deal.

no. because the original design was for ariza. we wanted ariza. ready to sign ariza. arizas agent backed out, and it was only THEN we went for artest.

secondly, it shows the focus and revenge factor they had in this game to get us after last years playoffs. they wanted us so bad, they'll start makin stuff up to hype themselves. well it worked, cause they got their 1 game revenge.

but if your a LAKER fan, you know the details of how the ariza/artest deal panned out.

what calls the refs made sure that they put Melo on the bench for the better part of the 1st half with some BS calls. So I'm sure Melo would be happy if he didn't get those calls.

Learn the game and rules.........two of Melo's fouls are famous for what he ALWAYS does..........push off. They was calling some BS on Ron and LO, in less than a 5 minute span the sorry refs called 3 fouls on Artest and 2 on Odom. That screw us for the rest of the half because with Pau out fouls are the only thing that wrecks our rotation.

Like I said if I were you Nugget fans don't expect to see ya boys Kendra Martin or Melo on the floor much on the Feb. 5th.

To be fair, Melo made these comments BEFORE the game.

Nevertheless, the Nuggs need to STFU and so do all of us Lakers fans whining about the refs.

Mello was largely inneffective against us in the play-offs last season... In fact Walton did an excellent job on him...

We didn't need Artest for him... We needed him for Pierce or Lebron...

Plus we BEAT them last season... Why would we make changes...

Methinks Mello caught the Vapors... Along with.......
