Falcons agree, team close to turning corner

"It's difficult because you're not seeing the hard work of the players, the preparation, pay off with the wins," said Head Coach Bobby Petrino of his team's 1-6 mark. "We've still been in a lot of games. We've been right there. We just haven't gotten over the hump yet and that's hard. There's no question. It's hard on me. It's hard on the staff and it's certainly hard on the players. We're going to keep working. We're going to keep a positive attitude and work on improvement."

"It's always a sour taste in an athletes mouth when they're not winning," veteran wide receiver Joe Horn said. "That's how it is in any sport you play. We would love to be at .500 right now, but we're not. You take the bye week, you relax and gather your thoughts, lick your wounds and come back ready to go against San Francisco. That's what I'm going to do and I think that's what most of the players in the locker room will do.

"Right now, you have to stay positive and use the bye week to get back on that high."

"You look at the last seven games we played... I think one we really got beat and that was the Giants game," added Horn. "Every other game, had we not made a couple mistakes, had we stayed consistent with some things, we could be 6-1. It's unfortunate for us right now but we know. In this league, a win is a win. We see film and we know we should be winning games that we're not winning."

"I think it's to the point where we really have to sit down and sit back and evaluate some things," said linebacker Michael Boley, who leads the team in tackles. "We have to take a little more time out to get some little things right because, as you see, most of our games have come down to one or two plays either making or breaking the game for us. I think we need to really focus on some little things that we can get corrected.

"I think I can improve everything. I'm still not satisfied. We're 1-6. I look at it as though there's something I'm not doing, whether it's helping the person beside me or getting somebody else motivated. I'm not satisfied."
