Is Smoove the 2nd best PF in the East?

Bosh 28/11
Smoove 16/8
KG 13/7

good luck Josh, he not only has a legit shot at making an All Star team, he actually has a good shot at making it.

The season is still young and you wanna make a statement like that??

Just 'cause he is playin well won't mean anything towards the end of the season when KG is fully healed, Elton Brand finds form and Rashard Lewis is back.
Lets wait till at least half way through the season before we make crazy statements, OK?

He is kicking some serious ass early in the season.

I can understand KG and Brand, but I would personally take Josh over Rashard any day...
I do think Josh will maintain a better statistical line than KG over the season though...but that's more due to Boston's system really

It's not as crazy as you think,Bucky. Most of the top flight PF's play in the West. It amazes me that people haven't considered that maybe Brand is washed. He was a really good player...but that was 3 seasons ago. Garnett deserves a little more time. Lewis and Jamison are pretty good assuming they come back in last year's form. I think at worst he's top 5...and you could make a good argument for him being number 2 with the way he's playing. I would personally rank him 3rd.

“We played them here, we played them there, we played them with their whole team, we played them without their whole team,” said Crawford of the four meetings. “We match up well with those guys. We definitely respect them, but we don’t fear anybody.”

Hes playing like it right now but as the season goes on and hes still producing like this u can chalk up an all star appearance and an all defensive team
Is it to much to ask for a team that plays hard and cares? Seems so.

Its weird, it seems like literally everything we all always said we wanted him to do, he just up and decided to do in his 6th season. Take almost all your shots inside; done. Focus the entire game on guarding your man; done. Box out; done.

I couldn't be happier. He's combining the excitement of old Josh with the productivity of an All-NBAer. In fact, he's got more highlights this season than ever before.

Keep up the good work J!

yeah, to all of those Josh haters who look to trade him at every opportunity to trade him, because they don't believe in developing a players (that came out of high school)...... suck it!

if Josh went to college, this would essentially be his sophomore year.

Smith is definitely making a good case for the All-Star game. He has 33 rebounds in the last two games. His shot selection and rebounding have been his two big problems.

His rebounding average is up to 8.9 now. If he can get between 9 and 10 and keep his shooting percentage at 55% or better he has a very good chance to make the All-Star game.

Brand...

My favorite part about the new Josh is his ability to rebound. Suddenly we are beating teams on the boards with regularity, something that NEVER happened in the past (anyone remember when Odom outrebounded Josh 20-0 in L.A. last year?).

The good thing about Josh is he just wants to win. I don't think he's selfish at all like a lot of outsiders say. He's just ultra-competitive and often tried to do too much when we were struggling. He is playing within himself this season and the results have been off the charts. Kudos to Smoove for finally figuring out where he best fits in with this team (at least for the time being).

The crazy thing is, the answer is arguably "yes." I'd still rank him slightly below KG at this point, but he's not too far behind Bosh or KG. Josh has a totally unique skill-set - I don't know who to compare him to. He's probably the second best pure athlete in the league. He's playing lights out right now. He's been my favorite guy on the team since we drafted him, it's so much fun watching him finally figure it out and start to fulfill his potential.

You could answer it this way: what PF in the East would you trade Smoove straight up for? I wouldn't do it for KG, would anybody here?

The scary thing is, Smoove still has room for improvement. I think he's primed to explode, Dominique Wilkins-style.
My mother told me, she said, "Elwood, to make it in this world you either have to be oh, so clever or oh, so pleasant." Well, for years I was clever; I recommend pleasant.

No. Smith has always done well against KG and i think KGs days are numbered. Other than Bosh i wouldn't trade Smith for any pf in the east. Smith currently has the 3rd best PER in the league among 4s and of course his defense has been looking good as well.

if Bosh was locked up for $10M per year for the next 5 years, then i would trade Josh for Bosh

but if Bosh is locked up for $20M per year, then i wouldn't even do that trade.

you also have to account, that the Hawks got Josh on one of the best deals in the NBA.

If Josh continues to play this way then it would be criminal if he wasn't an all-star selection. I don't expect a start as that is totally fan vote, but this level of play definite rates as one of the best in the East. Of course the key is to stay the course.

I wouldn't trade Josh Smith for any PF in the NBA right now. Even Bosh. Bosh is an offensive juggernaut but what Smoove brings defensively especially alongside an undersized Center like Al Horford cannot be overlooked.

As stated, Josh Smith is doing everything we've wanted him to do all these years. Let's see if he can sustain this without reverting back to his old habits.
