If the Jazz put DWill on the market ...

Post#1 » by drivewayball » Mon Nov 16, 2009 1:15 pm

what teams might be interested and what would they be willing to give up? It would seem that a very large expiring contract and a couple of very promising young players would be the best choice for the Jazz. Unless Chris Paul was available straight up.

There is about as much chance of that happening as there is the Magic throwing Dwight on there.

Why are people talking like this?

Wow. OP makes a great argument for the sentiment that internet message boards really are the lowest form of communication.

No way the Jazz put Deron on the market. I bet there would be tons of teams interested if he were though.

Question for the OP..........
How bad does it hurt when you smash your toe with a 15 pound sledge hammer?
Please go do it and let us know.

That would make just about as much sense as making this thread.

He is bored and wants to play hypotheticals. He wants to judge the value or Deron. It doesn't mean that he wants to trade him or that he is available, sheesh.

The thought of Deron's trading value has crossed my mind as well. He is by no means expendable, and has proven to be among the best guards in the L. But... if Maynor can continue to develop and Wall is looking like the real deal and we have the chance to draft him, moving Deron for a dominant big who plays on both ends of the court might make a lot sense.

That's a lot of ifs, of course, and the idea of moving Deron for cap room and a couple of developing players is competitive suicide. Why the hell do so many people want to give away our strongest assets for nothing? Its like they think they're personally responsible for the payroll.

There are four players in the league I trade straight up for D-Will.

LeBron, Kobe, Wade, Dwight.

Everyone else is a toss up and where they are going to be this year, and how they'd fit in with the Jazz.

If any of those guys come up in a straight up trade I'd definitely pull the trigger. Anyone else would take incentives.

The next closest guys would be Paul, Dirk and Roy but I wouldn't go straight up with either of them I don't think.

I honestly wonder what would happen if the jazz land the #1 overall pick?
I am guessing trade back if Wall is the #1 prospect and in high demand, as he likely will be.
But I wonder how far they trade back and for who?
Maybe Evan Turner or Greg Monroe, and if it is the latter or any other big man I take it boozer is without question gone?

The only way I can see Jazz trading him is if they win the lottery and select John Wall...and even in that case I much rather trade Wall.

anyway, from Phila I would offer anybody....iguodala+jrue holiday+ a first pick is a decent offer imo.

If Maynor continues to prove himself, and we have Wall LOCKED, then fine, but it has to be for one of the following:

Dwight
James
Kobe
Wade
Durant

I might be missing one, but that's about it. A two for one wouldn't be bad either, if we get a great shooter and a defensive big, but that's about it. I would probably test Wall/Williams backcourt before trading Deron Williams for little value, but if we got Wall in the bag, and it's for one of the guys I said, then go for it. Hell if we don't have Wall in the bag, I'd still trade Williams for one of those 5 guys.

Yeah, I'd add Durant to my list if I knew we were getting Wall in the draft.

I agree Utah would need some serious talent back, but you've got to be kidding me if you think you'll get top-tier talent back.
Well at least we're not Detroit!

It's a fair deal to swap him with CP3 IMHO, and probably they would fit their new teams better than the current ones. CP3's alley-oops no longer work since Tyson Chandler's departure and D-will also got castrated at offensive end as Boozer sucks.
I love our boys in blue.
