Don't look now, but.....

Post#1 » by magee » Sat Nov 14, 2009 6:24 pm

Sacto has the NBA's second longest winning streak at 4 games, behind Portland's five. Yeah, it's early in the season and may not say much, but congrats to the Kings for finding ways to win. Anyone else like Evans at SG instead of PG

I put $100 in vegas on the kings winning 24+ games this year. Easiest $100 ever

While i still think Tyreke can easily be the PG, I've revised my understanding of his meaning to this team. We are, and have always been, a team that has many many passers. We'll never have Chris Paul 10 APG passer, but Tyreke is such a significant threat at any time that weither he's playing PG or SG he can get 5-7 assists a night no matter if he's PG next to Martin or SG next to Beno.

Loving our team chemistry.

Magee Evans plays PG for us. Beno is the number 2. In PW system the 1 2 and 3 are interchangable. They work hand in hand.

This is a lot of what I was saying in the summer. Westphal's system is a variation of the same kind of motion offenses that we have always seen here during Petrie's time. There is a lot more dependence on the passing ability of the bigs and movement of the ball. Although this does result in assists, it also means that no one guy will often have more than 8-10 in any single game and therefore the guards averages will not look traditional. The bigs, on the other hand, will show higher numbers than you would normally see.

perezident, good looking out. I only watched the first game this season and it looked like Evans was more comfortable at the 2 in those couple of minutes. Then when Martin was hurt, I figured he would slide into Martin's role on offense, even though Udrih is the better shooter. Nice to know Westphal is using his basketball players as actual basketball players.

Don't look now, but after San Antonio's loss to OKC, we're 6th in the west.

I find it highly interesting that for some reason, Beno seems to play well with Evans. They are forming a nice 1-2 punch atm. It seems like whenever Evans is struggling he gives it to beno and he makes a great play. The chemistry between the 2 of them seems to be better than when its just Beno and Martin.

This is my theory as to why.

Maybe sharing the load is actually helping Beno's game. Evans usually brings the ball across mid-court and then he either tries to initiate the offense & get something going...and when nothing is happening he passes to Beno. For some reason, it seems like Beno has been feeding off these situations as of late; getting into the lane, making a good pass or hitting the three.

I'm almost thinking if Evans and Beno play this well the whole time KMart is out, why not bring him off the bench when he comes back? Reminds me of Jason Terry, coming off the bench for Dallas, who is a great sixth man. Martin would absolutly kill teams off the bench. Don't know why, but it always seems demoralizing to me when a opposing teams player comes off the bench and kills you.
Sometimes you just have to look yourself in the mirror and say....Tyreke Evans.
That just happened.

I wonder what ever happened to, "It's not who starts, it's who finishes"?

Also, don't look now, but according to NBA.com the Kings are not only #6 in the league in scoring, BUT THEY'RE #5 IN DEFENSE AS WELL!!! Who ever thought the day would come where we'd see the Sacramento Kings as a top 5 defensive team? Rejoice!

How are we #5 on defense!?

That seems way too off. I know for a fact we are in the bottom half of any defensive rankings in terms of opponent ppg, FG% and 3p%.

Key words right there...
And you notice there are no stats listed to back it up. They're probably just basing it off of our reputation from last year.
