Serious question Suns fans

Post#1 » by Jdiddy701 » Tue Nov 17, 2009 4:44 am

How far do you see this Suns team in the playoffs? Do you think we have a shot at the Lakers?

In my opinion, I believe we can take out any team in the West, except the Lakers and Blazers. I believe their big men will be too much for our bigs to handle. If somehow the Lakers get upset by another team.. do you see us reaching the finals? I know it's too early for all this, but I'm arguing with Lakers fans and I don't wanna feel like just cuz I'm a Suns fan that I expect high expectations from them.

In no way, am I saying other teams can't beat us, because I know they can. I just feel like our team is the BEST all around since Nash has came. The bench is better then what we've had from seasons ago, and Frye is a perfect fit for our team. What do you guys think?

We haven't played Denver yet, so can't judge them. And Utah is always a terrible matchup for us, because of the Williams/Boozer/Okur trinity they got going on. Dallas might be able to overwhelm us, as they're quite stacked on paper.

We don't match up well against la unfortunately. Only way we probably get by them is a trade or they lose in the playoffs to somebody else, ie houston.

With the way this team is set up, they can beat anyone but also lose to anyone. Similar to the Cardinals of last year, we all know they weren't a serious contender but due to luck they made it to the superbowl. So their going to surprise us, whether it be good or bad...so far it's been good with a 9-2 start of the season.

exactly....!!! I don't think Utah has a chance against us. Shaq used to guard Okur/Boozer.. C'mon now  Dallas is not as good as everyone thought they would be. The only team, I believe, is Portland and LA that we can't beat

Asked for a prog before the season, I'd have guessed the Suns for 43 to 46 wins...an 8th seed and and early playoff exit.

But, there is something happening here particularly with the bench contributions and the return of the free-wheeling offense...though it's clearly not SSOL.

Goran is getting closer, but he's still 100 games away from being what he will be.

Dudley is something special.

Overall there's a better, more consistant effort on defense. But not even championship caliber. It's only slightly above the median.

If Robin Lopez comes back and is markedly improved over last year. Gives the team 20 good "Dudley-like" minutes a game, with solid D, good use of fouls and a put back or two ...I think these guys have a chance (a rather small chance) to do something very special. No, I'm not going to type that "something".

The Lakers are a beast, and a beast that is only partially engaged right now. Come playoff time downing the Lakers will take an unbelievable effort. Denver and SA will be formidable.

Given no major injuries. 55 wins...4th seed. A good chance to go to the WCF if the right sequence of opponents align. If somehow, someway the Suns find the desire to play top 6 defense, any ending is possibility. I would not bet much of anything on that top notch D actually happening.

Trying to play Nostradamus-
53 wins, a 5th seed, a first round win over Portland (yikes! Blazers 1 and done again)...then squashed by the Lakers 4-0 or 4-1

Suns go 79-2
Sweep every team til we get to the NBA Finals. Series tied 3-3 against Boston. 12 seconds to go in Game 7 in Phoenix: Nash drives, behind the back pass to a wide open Channing Frye at the three point line... He shoots... Clank. Suns lose.

Phoenix...

Where Almost Happens.

Okay seriously...
The Suns have a pretty good team, but we'll get beat up by any team with a formidable frontcourt (Lakers, Spurs).
I think the Suns could take the Mavs, Blazers, Nuggets, not easily, but it could go either way with any of those teams.
I'm hoping a player(s) like Kurt Thomas/Raja Bell will be waived or bought out, this would seriously boost our chances tremendously in the playoffs. Raja Bell against a Kobe type player, Thomas against Bynum/Gasol/Duncan. To have those two players back would be a dream come true...

lol if we find a desire to play top 15 defense I'll hug the nearest person to me. Although if I tried that on my roommate she'd probably knee me in the crotch.

I recommend wearing a cup before the hug.

Our goal should be a 4th seed in the West. Home-court in the 1st round avoiding the Lakers, Spurs and Mavs.

A Mavs Suns series would be crazy good to watch.
A Lakers/Spurs Suns series I would just end up pulling my hair out.
I say Suns vs Blazers first round. Channing Frye puts up beast numbers.

Watched the Mavs/Buck last night - I'd completely forgotten they picked up Gooden, who was very solid for them in the game.
No Dampier, No Marion for most of the game (ankle), no Howard - they are a backup PG away form being real dangerous

That sucks man, you should be able to hug her all the time if you live with her. Maybe even have naked pillow fights or cool stuff like that!

Really?? I watched the game too and thought Berea did a great job for them! How many 3's did he hit to keep them up with MIL?? Dude was on fire. Dallas has a scary good team.

I think the Suns have a top 15 defense right now...but just barely. Maybe 12th...14th? Certainly not top notch or title contender quality

No! The numbers don't bare that out currently on a per game basis, but they've shown the desire and quite effective D in 4th quarters so far. I'd love to see where their 4th qtr defensive efficiency ranks overall. Anybody have those?

Translation: They'll show decent (better than average) D when the playoffs roll around.

Rightfully, no hugging happening based on the current numbers. But these Suns have a greater "crush" for defense then we've seen for awhile. Hopefully this blooming infatuation can move them up the defensive charts.

--- I don't trust stumpy little PGs like that. Maybe I'm wrong - JB's okay but I just don't think he's good enough
If they could find a decent vet I really worry about them hurting us - Cuban really upped the ante in the offseason. If they'd gotten Gortat ..... still, who they did get was impressive.
