I miss Glen Davis

Post#1 » by return2glory » Sun Nov 15, 2009 10:47 am

Can't wait for Davis to come back. I'm getting a little tired of Antoine Walker, I mean Rasheed Wallace. The guy is old and doesn't move his feet on defense.

I'm happy with the way Shelden Williams is playing. I was thinking when BBD comes back, Williams minutes would be gone. But Williams is playing better than Wallace. Wallace needs to sit. BBD gives this team offense and hussle, something Wallace is lacking.

BBD and Williams will give us young legs and hussle out there. IMO, BBD will be a better player than he was last year. At the end of the playoffs he was playing at 320 pound. He is down to 290 which would make him quicker and faster. I also hear BBD is working hard of his left hand, since he can't do much with his right hand in a cast.

There is nothing wrong with the way Wallace is playing. He's better than BBD and will play more than him. As he should of course.

Davis can`t really do anything better than Sheed. Wallace is a much better defender, better rebounder, better on offense...

Sheed just needs to cut down on his three point attempts. If he is open he should shoot but not every time he catches the ball behind the three point line...

True, But Doc definitely shares some of the blame. I constantly hear Doc saying in timeouts. Those are your shots, Just keep shooting and they will go in. I realize he is trying to build up the confidence in his players. But, When they are constantly chucking up 3s. That shouldn't be their shots. I don't know if Doc says otherwise in private. But based on the teams performance, I kinda doubt it.

I'm getting a little tired of different threads, I mean the same threads just re-worded.

Wallace will find his game, Shelden is improving, we're good for right now.

Sheed is the best paint defender on our bench and one of the best paint defenders off the bench in the league. He's getting used to a new team and a new role in playing off the bench for the first time in his career, give him time. His real value will be in the playoffs after a season of building chemistry on the court, his experience and ability to defend will be huge.

Remember when K.G made Davis Cry on the sidelines? That was funny.

Davis can put the ball on the floor better than Wallace. BBD hussles better than Wallace and gets down the court faster. Davis also stays in front of his man better. Sheed is getting beat too often on defense and his is too slow to do anything exccept reach out and hack. IMO Davis is better than Wallace. Davis proved it in the playoffs and Sheed disappeared for his team.

People need to understand that this is the 2009 Sheed, not 2001 Sheed.

Obviosuly you don't. KG didn't make Davis cry, BBD is an emotional guy and was upset at himself. BBD wasn't even listening to KG.

I think BBD's ability to drive at the basket will improve our offence.....we need more driving....

More than that, his legit post game will thrive with eddie, sheed, pierce/ray, on the floor.

Glen will help Sheed and vice versa........the 2nd unit will be better with both on the floor.

so we gain a little with Davis on the offensive side but we lose a lot on the rebounding side, the question is, who's the better defender, Williams or Davis?

I'm not comfortable with Shelden losing minutes at this point. I know that's coming a long way from questioning whether or not he was a total bum in the preseason, but he's been one of the most consistent players on the entire team so far.

We will have 5 capable bigs with Davis' return (sorry Scal) and I just hope the minutes are going to the players who's play is warranting the most minutes. I'd hate to see Shel lose minutes 'just because'. The other night, Shelden and Perk showed that they can beast on the glass when they're playing together. I don't know if Doc really has the bigs rotation figured out yet. In any event, I'll roll with the problem of having too many players/not enough minutes than the other way around.

I think they both defend decently - I'd give a slight edge to Williams because he is a touch taller and likely a little longer. Davis isn't the solution to our ills though. Our stars have to play better. It's like when Tom Brady was off at the beginning of the year. All the good work of the roleplayers can't save a team with bad QB. Likewise even a super nice bench won't save your team if your stars don't play at an elite level.

I don't miss Davis one bit, although he will help us a bit...he certainly won't hurt the team.
It's still 17 to 11!!!!
