Dave D says clearly that Lebron-Wade-Bosh-Amare arent coming to NJ. Actually, i got that feeling too. He suggests Rudy Gay, D lee, Joe Johnson are more realistic. What do you guys think?
Personally, i dont like Gay, he plays no defense. Considering the team we have, barrying trades and stuff, i would go with Boozer and Johnson, but maybe not for Max deals, because theyre aging.

Good post I was just thinking about this.

Gay I like, I really don't see enough of him to back the whole no D thing but I think he would fit in well here. Boozer I like too but he doesn't play D really either. Johnson I have watched the most of but he's gonna want a max deal. To me he seems like a ball hog he took like 35 shots the other night. D. Lee I like but once again plays no D but he is unselfish, rebounds with the best of them, and hustles. Give me Boozer and Gay out of those 4, but honestly I would be fine with Johnson/Lee or any combination of one wing and one big.

Rudy Gay and David Lee, say no to Joe Johnson - who I like but just not for this team and not for the price he'll command.

I know it's a gamble, but in that scenario (no LeBron, Wade or Bosh, I think I'd rather stick to signing just one of those 2nd tier guys and save the rest for another chance in 2011. It's a long way away, but here are the guys that are likely to be free agents in the summer of 2011. Durant is also a RFA, but no chance OKC doesn't match a MAX offer.

Carmelo Anthony
Leandro Barbosa
Shane Battier
Aaron Brooks (Restricted)
Caron Butler
Pau Gasol
Jeff Green (Restricted)
Spencer Hawes (Restricted)
Al Horford (Restricted)
Andrei Kirilenko
Yao Ming
Nene
Joakim Noah (Restricted)
Greg Oden (Restricted)
Tony Parker
Tayshaun Prince
Michael Redd
Jason Richardson
J.R. Smith
Rodney Stuckey (Restricted)
David West
Thaddeus Young (Restricted)

This list does not include the 2010 RFAs who could play out their 1 year tender and become UFAs like Lee and Felton have done this year. Among the list of 2010 RFAs who could conceivably be UFA in 2011 are Ronnie Brewer, Mario Chalmers, Randy Foye, Rudy Gay, Carl Landry, Kyle Lowry, Anthony Morrow, Luis Scola and Tyrus Thomas.

Having that extra cap room would also give NJ a big leg up in any potential 2010 trades (in case a superstar becomes available) or in terms of cashing it in the flexibility for draft picks (see all the Suns' trades).

David Lee isn't that bad, take him off the Knicks and give him a couple of months and he'll probably lose a lot of those bad Knicks habits.

Depending on where we draft or who we draft, I would only pick up Boozer (unless he wants max) and save some cap space for a trade, perhaps trading Devin Harris away for a star player.
