His agent should come out and clearly state that his client wants to come off the bench and will come off the bench. See, that is what's probably irking some teams somewhat is this idea stuck in Iverson's head that his preference is to start. Take that off the table... It shouldn't have had ever been on the table. Then you wouldn't feel mislead into believing that you'd an opportunity to start.

I know that he doesn't want to, but Iverson should see what's out there in salary overseas. At least his chances of starting are probably better.

A New York Daily News report said the New York Knicks would explore possibly signing Iverson. Team president Donnie Walsh wasn’t committal, telling the Daily News, “We’ll look into it. Right now, I’d say probably not, but we’ll see.”

Moore has not heard anything from the Knicks, but said Iverson would be excited about playing in New York, provided the team’s interest is sincere.

“That’s one of his favorite places to play,” Moore said. “He loves [Mike] D’Antoni’s style of play. He’s always had respect for Donnie Walsh since his days in Indiana. We’d be elated if that is true.

“We don’t want to jump the gun. … But that would definitely be of interest. That would work family-wise with him having family in Philly and his wife having family in New York.”

A handful of general managers and executives surveyed on Monday expect most teams to pass on trying to sign him. Moore said although no team has yet to reach out to Iverson, the 34-year-old guard is focused on returning to the NBA and not playing overseas.

Moore said Iverson would even agree to come off the bench if he signs with a championship-caliber team.

“It doesn’t have to be a starting role if it’s the right situation, right circumstances,” Moore said.

Why didn't Iverson andhis agent figure all this out before the season started? Did he not know he'd come off the bench in Memphis?

I hope whatever "contender" he signs with misses the play offs. Cleveland would be perfect.

Let's see, Orlando signed Jason Williams, Miami signed Arroyo, Chicago signed Pargo, Indiana signed Watson, Washington signed Boykins, New Jersey acquired Alston and Charlotte acquired Law. Frankly, I don't see a team in the eastern conference having a real interest in Iverson. And Philadelphia and Detroit you can automatically cross off.

philly has a post on there board saying they would like AI back 20 to 10 vote there. I say the world has indeed turned upside down wanting AI back lol.. I'm with you I don't see an eastern team picking him up unless it's New York or Cleveland. Those are big if's though

I think it would be awfully hypocritical of this board to laugh it up if he signed with a contender, considering we took the same gamble with this guy last year.

Like Boston, Atlanta doesn't really have a true backup point guard. They've Crawford... He's to them as Daniels is to Boston.

Cleveland makes no sense to me even if they're able to trade D. West. You already have Gibson...

I think New York still wants to buyout Hughes... Regardless, I doubt New York will bother...

Now, Jax goes to Charlotte and the New York Knicks consider the candidacy of Iverson at a gutted-out, hollow Madison Square Garden. Iverson’s a worthy heir to Stephen Marbury, who sources say is spending hours and hours at spas getting pedicures, manicures and massages, literally believing that somehow that’s part of preparing his body for a return to the NBA next season. That’s all Starbury needs to see: Iverson running the point for the Knicks this season, and somehow this whole cycle of dysfunction will have come all the way around.

Difference being Marbury didn't pull a hissy fit when asked to come off the bench (in fact, he embraced it)...

Knowing Orlando, I think he goes there.

Or Cleveland for the laughs.

Iverson is still a legit baller. If we didn't have Ray, I wouldn't mind him starting for 32 mins a game.

I'd give him about 25 minutes off the bench and unload house. He can play backup to both Rondo and Ray. He's better defensively than House, can handle the ball A LOT better, is a better passer, and not as good a shooter (but still a good shooter). If Rondo plays 38 minutes and Ray plays 33, there are 25 minutes available behind them. Daniels can back up Pierce for 15 minutes a game.

If you guys think this guy can't contribute anymore you're crazy. He can still drop 20 points off the bench if given good minutes. He's also good at getting in the lane and creating, AND getting to the free throw line (something our bench sucks at).

As far as shot selection is concerned... do you really think Eddie House has good shot selection? AI's is no better or worse. In fact, im sure House gets more points scored on him than he scores himself.

By the way, how funny would it be if Iverson was voted an all star started while not playing for anyone...

Hey, Mo Williams whined his way onto the All-Star team last year, so anything is possible...

Perhaps, I gave New York too much credit... It makes sense but I would promptly pass on him.

Before, I read that New York could trade for McGrady as a before the trade deadline idea. That would make more sense to me if New York's lacking star attraction.

With the team in a free fall, and no other help on the horizon, Knicks officials are seriously considering Iverson as a quick fix. The matter was still being deliberated on Wednesday, but one team official said the chances were at least 50-50 that they would pursue Iverson.

Another person with close ties to the team put it in stronger terms. “It’s a given,” said the person, who was not authorized by the team to discuss private deliberations. “They’re going to make the biggest play for him.”

The decision rests with the team president, Donnie Walsh, and ultimately with James Dolan, the Madison Square Garden chairman. There are strong indications that Coach Mike D’Antoni is already sold on the idea.

Well, New York has decided against offering Iverson a contract, and Miami has dismissed the report that they're interested in him. Now I believe he'll retire...
