Monta Ellis (In case GSW doesn't care bout his D)
Blount
Flynn
for
Monta Ellis
'09 1st rounder (depending on Monta's value and long term health)
Ellis is the guy Kahn hopes Flynn can be. Rubio and Ellis would be amazing as a backcourt. We are not gonna get anyone better in free agency (unless JJ gave us a promise). He reminds me of KG, he is passionate and wants to win.

Re: Monta Ellis (In case GSW doesn't care bout his D)
Ish. A quick list of realistic players I'd rather have, just through free agency:
Rudy Gay
Ronnie Brewer
Travis Outlaw
Josh Childress
And this is just wings, and doesn't include any of the vets we could trade for, or the players we could take in the draft. No defense, awful long term contract, bad attitude.

OJ Mayo is one of the best defenders in the league, hes a two way player and hes a great passer and playmaker.

Let's keep the midget shooting guards pretending to be point guards, that claim they play defense, away from this roster, please. We've had enough already.

Looks like Monta's getting the boot:

Multiple NBA sources have confirmed that Monta Ellis’ status with the Warriors could be determined Thursday, when his agent is scheduled to meet with team management in Oakland.
Several sources indicate that Ellis’ agent, Jeff Fried, already has discussed the possibility of the Warrriors giving Fried and Ellis permission to talk to other teams to quicken the pace of trade talks.
The Thursday meeting could formalize those general discussions. One source said that Fried tacitly has been given the go-ahead to try to come up with a trade, but that team president Robert Rowell may not yet have officially signed off on it.
(Al Harrington was given similar permission last year. It’s believed Stephen Jackson received tacit approval earlier this year.)
Multiple sources say that, apparently at Don Nelson’s urging, the Warriors have been calling teams and offering to trade Ellis in recent days.
It is likely that their efforts will only intensify, barring some 11th-hour peace treaty. Ellis has four years and $44M owed to him after this season, but several sources say that he will be less difficult to trade than Stephen Jackson was.
And it seems inevitable that Ellis will be traded, presuming that Nelson remains in power, and every source I’ve talked to believes that Nelson will remain in power.

I don't think I would give up much for a guy like Ellis. His production is overshadowed by his mouth.

I think he is a good kid in a bad spot. Talent wise he would be nice with Rubio, but he is not worth the contract he has. He needs a new team bad.

His attitude makes me cringe
"Coach, why do I get blamed for everything"
"I'm not going to put any more on my back. Somebody else is going to have to step up and take on the role. Now, who have we got that's going to play defense? We've got me. Who else?"
"Look at me on my moped weeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee"
...ok I made that last one up. Still, the only way I would even consider Ellis to be a possibility is if Rubio was on the squad. Part of it has to do with the fact that Flynn, Ellis, and Jefferson would be pretty small at their respective positions and the other part is that I don't think that lineup would result in good chemistry.

Makes no difference, but does make alot of sense. Jefferson is probably about as good of a leader as Monta. To Al's credit though, I haven't seen him unleash the glare of death on any of his teammates this year.

Re: Monta Ellis (In case GSW doesn't care bout his D)
for one our defense sucks pretty darn bad, I can't see it getting worse with Ellis on the team. and the dude can score which is something we badly badly badly need. his pricetag is my only hesitation, he is not what I had in mind when I think of using our capspace.

Re: Monta Ellis (In case GSW doesn't care bout his D)
I was just using him as an example of an undersized SG, who thinks he can play PG, with no D

I wouldn't take him even for just expirings. He's got some talent, but he's the exact opposite of everything this team needs.

Monta is actually a good player. Randy Foye forgets his name on a day-to-day basis. That's how inconsistent he is.

Flynn and Ellis can't play together.
Both need the ball too much.
