He's really been surprisingly boneheaded throughout his career, and he certainly is one of those players who I wish would just shut up more often than he actually does, but he's still young and oh so talented. I wonder what a change of scenery to a more stable vet squad would do for him?

Scal/TA/Giddens/House works for Ellis. Thats giving up one expiring rotation player. Ellis' speed, athleticism, and offensive prowess are really worth considering. If he could be sold on the idea of being the latest in a series of classic Celtic sixth men, maybe we'd have something here.

This would almost be as bad as the Pau Gasol deal

Not quite, but it is pretty bad/good, depending on which team you root for.

I'm a Warriors fan, but I can't see anything happening with that team until they get a new owner, front office and coach. It's just a joke how bad that team is run. So at this point I'm thinking if the Celtics can get a piece of the firesale, go for it.

Ellis' boneheadness is coming from not having a veteran leader. When Baron Davis was still on the team, Ellis was the perfect sidekick. With KG, Pierce and Allen, I don't see Ellis acting out at all. His contract is horrible though.

I suppose I was a little harsh by saying you should avoid him with a 10 foot pole, but I just don't think that he's worth the risk of a long term investment. Though I do agree that maybe all this guy needs is a fresh start and a change of atmosphere. GS is just falling apart.

Ellis is an idiot with a bad personal health record. No way that I want that around here.

You guys can have Ellis, the guy's a cancer, and watching his body language makes me dislike him greatly.

Sounds great on paper having Monta backup Rondo and split time at the 2 with Daniels. But we risk Monta or Rondo becoming a malcontent and I don't know if you want to lock into two guys under 6-3 for a 1/3 of the cap the next 5 years.

I don't know how much we'd miss Eddie. It seems like when a team decides to guard him he can't score.

If GSW just dumps Ellis like a sack of crap,as this seems to hope, there's no "players in FA" factor, and I'd assume that it's a last straw that has GSW losing it's own FA's and perhaps having another player want to escape. A team does just not scrap out 3 of it's top 4 scorers for scrubs and pretend that winning is part of the agenda. Any FA will assume the franchise is on the cheap, disfunctional, and going there's just temporary. GSW MUST learn to merge players into a team, don't keep shuffling the deck..play the hand.

Split time at the 2 with Daniels? Are you nuts? Ellis is 2x better than Daniels. Ray is fading and very soon Ellis is >> Ray. If GSW insists on being forever irrelevant......they still can get SOME talent back. Jackson is 31 and a bit of a loose cannon. Ellis is trying to sort out a "Role" that's been a moving target.

Actually far worse. M Gasol is good. At the time some thought Crittendon was good. Kwame was at least a rotation player. In this, GSW has to buy out 3 players just to bring in 4 guys who are generic. The obvious message is that the fromnt office is a liability and they are dragging everything down. No illusion of a "rebuild or any plan except get minimum payroll. I'd EXPECT the survivors all ask to get traded. At some point...heads roll, with Nellie the most obvious.

I doubt it goes that way...simply..this is SO lowball there is nothing at ALL to justify GSW even thinking about it. Stupidity may prevail but some sort of justification is needed or ebay is glutted with season tickets.

Another case of...why doesn't GSW just QUIT.....They would get the expensive rental of a player who'd be totally irrelevant--thus being the VERY unique loser to acually give away their top 4 scorers from the previous year for NOTHING AT ALL...with the #5 scorer probably injured the rest of the year.

Exactly...what's the point?

I should have quoted, this was in response to the notion of you guys picking up Nocionni for him. I would think, if you're really going to move the guy, you wouldn't want to take back long term salary on a guy like Nocionni. Expirings and a pick might be the best GS is looking at considering nobody wants to add salary. The point would be to move a guy that has a huge salary and wants out. You don't usually get fair value in these situations.

Ellis here would play a lot of minutes at the point. He's better than Daniels offensively but not on D, especially against 2-guards. If those two guys take all the back up minutes for the 1-2-3, then there's plenty of minutes for both.

As far as Ray and Ellis, this would be the primary reason to get him. Ray can move (eventually) to that Reggie Miller backup role we all hope he ages into with Ellis the starter. I'm just not sure I like that starting backcourt very much. It's pretty damn short.

I don't know enough about GS as far as their motivations, but as an outsider they look pretty screwed up. Sometimes for better or worse, that creates a house cleaning.

I don't really understand the negatives attached to Ellis. Obviously the accident was stupid but he didn't rape anyone or get busted smoking meth he crashed a scooter or whatever. As far as his attitude I think the kid just wants to win and Nellie is acting like he is drinking before the game, for real.

What has Ellis done wrong been pissed because the team threatened to void his contract? I am sure you would be thrilled.

Hates losing?

He doesn't undertand why a team that starts guys 6'6" at PF was looking to add another guard who isn't a true pg and can't guard the 2 or anyone else for that matter.

He tries to be a leader and the coach tells him to shut up and the media surrounding the team doesn't expect the coach to survive the plane ride.

What about this makes Ellis a bad guy. If the Warriors were a bank the feds would have stepped in and taken that front office away in handcuffs.

The kid is apparently the only person involved with the Warriors anymore that understands basketball. Ellis and Curry in the same backcourt turned Ray Allen into Lamar Odom and Ray is what 6'5"? I love Rondo and really like both Ellis and Curry and but I don't think there is any combo of those 3 that would work in the same backcourt long term unfortunately.
