the former Orange Star is glad to see that someone was willing to pay him the money he wanted.

Sacramento GM Mascot had this to say about the signing.

"We felt with the build that this team has and the possible loss of Ben Wallace this offseason that shoring up our backup PF spot was the top Priority. This will allow Glen Davis to soak up most of the minutes at backup C."

He would only comment that the deal was 4 years, however it is speculated to be in the 25 million range.

Charlotte has made two signings that we feel will have a major impact on the style and effectiveness of our team. The Bobcat's GM feels that these signings reflect the needs of the team, and will help to attract free agents in next year's free agency class, as well as the year after that.

Bobcats acquire a second option:
Image

Al Harrington, former New York Knicks power forward has signed a 3 year deal with the Charlotte Bobcats for slightly less than the MLE.

Year 1: $6,000,000 Year 2: $5,520,000 Year 3: $5,080,000 [--last two years salary slightly increased to conform to CBA]

Harrington is expected to bring some much needed veteran experience and scoring to a team that is lacking in both of those areas. He has averaged over 16ppg in each of the last 5 years, and had a career year scoring 21ppg last season. He is 28 years old, so the Bobcats front office has confidence in his ability to play through the life of his contract.

Bobcats get defensive:
Image

Tyrus Thomas, former Chicago Bulls forward has come to terms with the Bobcats.

Year 1: $7,000,000 Year 2: $6,500,000 Year 3: $6,000,000 Year 4: $6,000,000

Thomas brings much needed defensive intensity to the Bobcats, and since he is so young he will be a major part of our team for years to come. With him, Nenad Krstic, and Derrick Favors on the team the Bobcats think they will have a front-line that can compete with any team in the NBA.

The Portland Trail Blazers have signed Rajon Rondo - 5 years, $62.5 million

Year 1: $11,500,000
Year 2: $12,000,000
Year 3: $12,500,000
Year 4: $13,000,000
Year 5: $13,500,000 (Player Option)

A Rondo/Roy backcourt would create one of the best young backcourts in the NBA.

Orlando has used their MLE to sign "The Vanilla Gorilla"

Image

Joel Przybilla
10-11: $5,854,000
11-12: $6,322,300
12-13: $6,790,640
13-14: $7,258,960

He is a perfect fit to backup our STUD, his defense, rebounding, shot blocking and overall toughness is exactly what we were looking for in this FA market. He was our #1 target, and we are pleased that he finally agreed to come aboard to get himself a ring! We feal our team is now complete.

3 All Stars with a HOFer and Capt Jack is a great lineup to go with the deepest bench in the game!

Craig Smith to Sign With New York Knicks.

ESPN -- The New York Knicks in the first of many signings this off-season signed Craig Smith to a reported veterans minimum contract today. Knicks GM TMACFORMVP had this to say, "We're really excited to bring a player of Smith's caliber on the New York Knicks. He's a proven energy spark off the bench, and behind both Gasol, and Varajao, there will be plenty minutes to go around." Smith is currently putting up averages of 6.9 points and 3.7 rebounds in only 15 minutes of play. Last season with the Timberwolves, Smith averaged a career high 10.1 points per game in just under 20 minutes of action.

Veteran Ben Wallace Signs With the New York Knicks

ESPN -- The former 4-Time Defensive Player of the Year Ben Wallace has agreed to terms with the New York Knicks today, for a contract estimated at around the veterans minimum. With the signing of Craig Smith earlier today, the Knicks have added some much needed bulk off the bench. "We know we need players to fill the bench. We didn't want to fill it with just anybody, players that have proven they can come off the bench and produce. Veteran experience and the ability to impact the game without the ball in their hands was crucial to us. Even at this age, we feel Ben Wallace can still provide those qualities." Ben Wallace is currently averaging 3.8 points per game, 9.2 rebounds, 1.2 steals, and 1.5 blocks per game on just over 57% from the floor.

Related News: Knicks also sign C Nazr Mohammad to a veterans minimum contract.

Rafer Alston has signed a 2 year/4 million dollar offer set up as 2/2. GM Blackice had this to say. “Great fit here in SAN at a bargain price. He is a good defender which is key to what we are trying to do here in and great scorer off the bench when need be. Can run a team without a problem. The last piece we needed a backup PG and we got it. We are very excited with this addition”.

^Matthews is RFA so he can have his contract matched within 7 days from the signing by whomever holds his rights, if someone still does that is.

if he is a RFA, his QO would be more then the 2 year min salary contract he signed? Why would he take less money and more years if he could just accept the QO?

Also, why would a young guy with potential like Mathews sign for two years and not one? And, did you get my second batch of offers? I didn't hear anything back (Made offers for Rasho Nesterovic Darko Milicic Aaron Gray Tony Battie and more).
