RealGM would kill you for anything less than Josh Smith and 3 firsts for Randolph

Anyways, I think that deal's actually not bad, but come on guys, we're 12 games into the season, and Marvin clearly just hasn't been getting his shots to drop, which is killing his confidence and making him play more mechanically.

At some point in the season, we're going to be in a slump (unless you think we're a 68-win team, which I doubt), and Marvin will go on a spree and be bailing us out. I'm calling it now for... mid-Feb.

I agree with azuresou1. Why would you want to trade Marvin right now?

Personally I don't think either the Hawks or the Suns have one of the top 5 most talented teams in the league. I wouldn't let a fast start by either team stop me from making a trade I think helps my team out.

Neither would I, but making a trade now when the team is doing well and Marvin is doing poorly would be selling low and possibly ruining a good thing, namely all the intangibles, such as team chemistry, spacing, etc.

And how does trading Marvin at his lowest value in years help the Hawks out?

Let me just put this tidbit out there: Marvin Williams is a BYC player.

That means that the Hawks can only receive half the salary back for him. Which means that he could only be dealt to a team under the cap or that he'd have to be in a package to make the cap math work.

While Marvin is struggling with his offense and figuring out his role with this team he is putting forth the effort on D. Let's not overreact to a few bad outings and do something drastic at this point. Given the cap limitations odds are there aren't any deals out there that would really improve the Hawks. Be thankful that the Hawks are doing so well with out much production from Marvin. Over the course of the season I think we'll need he to step up at some point.

Dallas- Marvin's cap value would actually be his salary from last season. So he would count as 5.6 rather than 7.5 million which isn't a big barrier to a trade.

And I don't see Marvin's trade value as particularly lower now than it was a month ago- I am taking the longer term view of it. I'm actually assuming he would bounce back to be a slightly below average starting SF in the league which is where I think he will end up in his career. And I just look at it as Marvin being a guy that might be valued by Golden State more than any other team in the league because of his ability to play PF for them with Randolph seemingly undervalued by them because they have a senile coach. When you think that anotehr team might overvalue one of your players thats exactly when I think you have to look hard at a trade.

The Hawks record is absolutely irrelevant to me as far as what trades I would make. If you are talking about trading Josh Smith or Horford where we aren't sure if their new level of play is a fluke or for real then absolutely I would take this season into account. But if Marvin really is going to settle in as the Hawks 5th or 6th option on offense hell yes I'd be looking to make a trade.

If I'm trading with GS, it's for Biedrins.

I'd be all for a Beans/wing -for- Marvin/Zaza, but I'm not sure they're interested.

Thanks for straightening me out on the BYC implications.

Like I said, Marvin will turn out to be a slightly above average SF in the mold of a Battier. I am more than fine with that; there are only so many shots to go around and Marvin's role SHOULD be the glue guy, the utility player. This transcends just court play, it also affects locker room chemistry.

We don't have a superstar. We are a chemistry, athleticism, and hustle driven team. Take out any one of those things, and we fail. Marvin gives us a little of all of those things, and to trade him for anything but a HUGE upgrade makes us worse. Anthony Randolph is not one of those upgrades.

Anthony Randolph strikes me too much as a forward in the Smoove mold, i.e. a tweener that is better suited at the 4 because of an inability to stretch the floor and defend most SFs. Because of this he is not a suitable candidate to replace Marvin. Not just because of Woody's system but due to us having an undersized frontcourt we need a SF that has both the height and girth to switch with them but also the shooting ability to keep the floor spaced so they can utilize their quickness in one on one opportunities. That being said Rudy Gay, Wilson Chandler (literally a Marvin clone, slump included) and maybe Taj Gibson or Derrick Brown would be a few of the most likely candidates to replace him. Out of all those guys only Rudy Gay titillates me in the least as an actual upgrade.

:sigh: .....Quit crying :waaa: you are 11-2

Give me a break :violin: ... Cry me a river already.

:dontknow: There is nothing wrong with either one of them. :noway:

You are being silly :naaa: ...Leave your team alone! Now if you are worried about cutting salary to resign other players, that is one thing. But to go make moves like that, just to make moves is silly.

Marvin and Zaza are valuable pieces to your title run. Those are things you can probaly talk about doing before the draft this Summer.

And another one said, "Teague needs more time." No he doesn't! You dont have time to play games with him.

In fact, if anything if your team is smart, you should send Jeff :tooth Teague to the D-League so he can get some minutes. You need to win now, and not develop rookies taking minutes from a productive vet :cowboy: .

It is time for your team to learn how to dominate not develop or dilly dally around.
