isn't that the logic of the built-in redundancy of the big three?

I'm optimistic that both of those guys are going to figure out their roles/ spots in the O and start putting up more respectable percentages which is going to make the Wiz a really dangerous team.

What saved the Wizards from their poor shooting was the ability to get to the line and take advantage of their Free Throws when they got there.

Start
Gil
Foye
Miller
Jamison
Haywood

with a really stacked 2nd unit of
Boykins
DS
Butler
Blatche
Oberto

really that takes 2 gameplans.

I think having Butler come off the bench may help him get out of his shooting slump. I might start DS instead of Foye(but give Butler and Foye more minutes). I think a line-up after the first sub should be:
Boykins
Foye
Butler
Jamison
Oberto

This gives Butler the ability to be a ball handler, but also enough good passers that he does not have too much pressure on him. I also would like to see Blatche going against the back-up PF with most of the other starters in the game.

Miller had +- of +26. Jamison had +4.

The game turned when Miller decided to use his best assest. His shot.

I've been hating on DS quite a bit, but he was great last night. Most important line for him 0-0. That is zero shots taken. If he never shoots again, I will be quite happy. Also, it seems like DS is far better against bigger guys like Lebron than he is #2 guards like Ben Gordon. So maybe that should be his role - defending against 3 men. Maybe D-Mac (Foye?) is better against athletic 2 guards?

Thoughts?

I think Foye is a good match up against the smaller 2 guards. Even if they score a lot he can answer at the other end. The problem with an Arenas/Foye backcourt is when they face a team with a big 2, in which case DS, Miller or Butler is a better option.

1. The game MVP is obviously Antawn Jamison. The game is another embarrassing blowout without him.

2. I sure as hell wouldn't want to be the guy who tells Caron Butler he's not a starter anymore.

I'd start:

Blatche

Bring Butler in pretty early for Blatche, then bring Blatche back in to rest Jamison.

Tre Johnson is the future of the Wizards.

Agreed.

And I want to clarify my original post. I'm not yet advocating the benching of Butler because I think he is needed as our only athletic wing defender. I was just saying that if Butler is indeed benched, I'd want to start the big lineup with Jamison at SF, rather than a small lineup with Foye at SG.

Butler could still get thirty minutes and finish games coming off the bench.

It's just a matter of who's playing well together.

Sure. All Stars love coming off the bench. They don't get upset about it at all. :D

Which is why we should instead tell him he can still be a starter...just on whatever team we send him to in exchange for defenders and expirings.

I haven't been here regularly for a while [my loss], so forgive my ignorance, but do you really want to trade Caron Butler for expiring contracts?

^ Not expirings only. We'd need a young 2-way wing in return as well. Something like Caron to Portland for Rudy+Webster+Outlaw.

Well, if Caron doesn't improve his shooting soon, you may get your wish.
