Re: Victory Cigar Deceiving 20 Point Win vs. GS
It isn't generational or anything like that. First of all the idea of this award is not to turn this or everything else into some pissing match about Rondo, you vote for who you want to vote for and you give your reason why, this loser BS about then cracking other people about who they voted for is general board crap. You start a thread about KG it is Rondo talk, start a thread about Monta Ellis it is Rondo talk, talking about a Nocioni trade rumor no it is Rondo talk. YOUR agenda doesn't **** matter, this is supposed to fun.
There was plenty of reason to vote for Rondo and there was plenty of reason not to sure he was key to pulling away in the 3rd but he also was a key reason were behind in the 3rd quarter, he was matched up against a rookie and was turnover machine through 2 1/2 quarters. In the 3rd he stopped being Dijon and went back to be Rajon and was certainly key to pulling away. I thought when we were still in a fight Perkins was the one making the difference on both ends, but he started making silly turnovers and missing bunnies when we were pulling away. That is were I would have probably voted but he wasn't an option. I think Pierce was as good as anyone throughout the game and limited the mistakes and just sort of let them die which is what was going to happen to a crappy up tempo team with 7 healthy players.

Your points are excellent and true.
I voted for the Truth for the same reasons - a matter of overall balance. Paul was consistent and productive and efficient. Rondo shined when we pulled away, but his counted TOs and multiple uncounted TOs were excessive, and his FT shooting was at the elementary school level and beyond embarrassing and simply completely unacceptable for an NBA player.

SamIam 2010: Truth's ability to play so incredibly efficiently is so UNDERAPPRECIATED. Bballcool 2012: Amazing how great Pierce has been for so long. Continues to defy age! KG 2013: P is original Celtic. Wherever he goes, we go. This is The Truth's house.

Typical hash from the anti-Rondo crowd. His multiple uncounted turnovers? Give me a friggin break. The dude was the single biggest reason behind the win against the Warriors, and you can't seem to admit that... or just don't know enough about the game to recognize that. Not giving you the benefit of the doubt, I'm going to go with the latter.
He missed 3 free throws. Waaah, waaaah. By the way, being Rondo he got his own miss on the back to back bricks, and Ray ended up scoring. Left that part out, huh. Kind of funny how when they made the amazing decision to allow him to KEEP THE BALL, that the game blew open for us.... and you voted for Pierce? I love Paul. Have since his FIRST Celtics game, back when you were probably complaining about him too. Knew he would be special, and all of that good stuff, but he WAS NOT the guy behind this win. In no shape or form was he. Not at all.

Simple, I'm not a big fan of obtuseness. Call me insensitive, but rainy days, mondays and fools get me down. Focusing on his "uncounted turnovers", and ignoring his dominance is rather disgusting, IMO. Don't like today's game, and reality in general, watch the old teams play on ESPN Classic, and spare your eyes. You know, with guys like Magic Johnson (career 3.9 turnovers per game), taking such good care of the ball.

Hey Greendreamer
1) I have been playing ball and watching the Celts for longer than you have been alive. You want to think you know more about basketball than I do, go right ahead. I could give a ****.
2) Your hostility and not so feigned insults towards Sully and me are completely unwarranted. We called it like we saw it.
3) You need to improve your reading comphrehension. Read my posts again.
4) I have no problem whatsoever with Rondo getting the cigar based on what he did in the 12 minute stretch when we broke it open.
3) I am not in the slightest anti-Rondo. I said he has fantastic talent and potential, and that if he fixes his J and FTs, he can become elite.
4) I am admittedly and proudly the biggest Pierce homer on any chat board anywhere. I have known he was special from the second he entered the NBA. He has had a HOF career. My posts about him are 95% positive with occasional constructive criticism.
5) On MULTIPLE occasions, I have voted for Rondo even when Paul had an incredible stat line himself - in spite of my Pierce homerism.
Chill the **** out, man.

Then keep your "praise" confined to actual praise, instead of BS regarding imagined turnovers and free throw shooting. He's sucking balls at the free throw line. Does that stop him from being a force? No. You don't like the aesthetics? Tough.
Legitimate gripes, when he actually played badly, will not earn a negative response from me. It isn't as if I couldn't write out a list of grievances as long as your arm about how he gies about his business.
P.S. Rondo doesn't have only "talent" and "potential", he's got PLENTY of "ability" and "skill". Having room for improvement does NOT mean that what is already there isn't pretty damn awesome as is.

Listen up, bud.
Express your opinion and disagree with me all you want, although we really are not that far apart regarding Rondo. You have me confused with some other guys who really have a problem with Rondo.
However, do NOT frigging tell me 1) what to write about him, 2) how effusive how I should be (e.g., talent/potential vs. current skill level), and 3) how critical I should be.
Conversation over.

Nobody really has a problem with Rondo well except for the two dudes obsessing over him.

Re: Victory Cigar Deceiving 20 Point Win vs. GS
Wow, here is the deal rondo has his weakness and pierce has his..rondo is easier to pick on because pierce has been there done that and deserves his due.
Now I voted for rondo and sully and ex voted pierce by no means is it the end of the world sure I rolled my eyes but that was in fun not critical to there expertise. From what I've read of there post there insightful. Green dreamer i've not read anything bad that you posted except calling some one dumb and if you read a bit of there posts you can plainly see there is a lot of history there. I'm 31 played college b-ball and soccer for Indiana state but you wouldn't know that unless I posted it point is don't assume people don't know more than you or even if they no more than you. Not saying you don't have a right to say what you feel and it's never to late to share knowledge to those that know alot as well. Don't assume people will have the same view as you I certainly don't and think a healthy dose of banter is good but don't go over the line, we all love this damn team..some go over board like biscuit and wolves2011 but even he is not name calling.
Lets keep the blood green.
I could understand if pierce had like 11 points and they voted for him sure I would give them a lil more razzing but he lead them in scoring and played heady.
be cool same team.

No kidding. Rondo is a fine player. I am going to have to stop reading these boards if these guys keep it up. It's funny because as other posters have pointed out despite being huge Rondo "fans" they actually make you want to turn on the guy. Its probably because they denigrate any player or fan who doesn't worship at the altar of his greatness. I got to agree with exculpatory.. I have a hard time voting for a guy who can't shoot free throws as well as the third string center on a HS varsity team..

Great, so you have broken both Pete and I and we are capable of arguing over back up PGs, undersized PFs, and crappy second fiddles for 5 years on two different boards without taking a breath, now you have us a agreeing and just flat out sucking the life out of the thing. Happy now?
