Everyone has regressed

Post#1 » by therebirth » Thu Nov 19, 2009 11:35 pm

From last season to this season no player is doing better. Felton, Crash, DJ and Diaw are all doing worse. Why? Is it possible that Larry is forcing them to play a way that they simply can't.

It's true, and Chandler looks 10000x worse than Okafor ever looked. This team flat out sucks. Byron Scott is available now.....

As I've said previously, I think these guys were playing above their raisin'. Diaw has a history of coming in out of shape, and that happened this season. DJ had a number of good moments last year, but the league is cruel, as they figure out what you do and figure out how to defend you. If you cannot adapt, you're doomed. So far, DJ hasn't grown his game. I seriously doubt he will ever be an impact player, or a true starting PG who can distribute and defend. Crash is pressing his game, and slipping back into bad form on his shooting. We all know he works his ass off, and continues to be productive in many ways. Felton....he has just been bad. He's not running the floor, executing the offense, and continues to be a horrible shooter.

More quality trades are needed to trransform this team. Without that we will be, at best, mediocre. I think Jackson will help this team more than many expect. Chandler will get better by mid-season. If we can get some wins and hang close, the 2nd half could be good. But it will take some different players to be in that position.
I continue to wait...and hope...for the return to Hornet's glory.

I would just like to say that jared Dudley has not regressed. He is getting 22 minutes of burn / game. He is avg 9.1 pts and 4.1 reb. for Phoenix. Congrats my man! You are still loved by many on the Board. Hated to see you be traded away.

With Okafor, likely the best player the Bobcats ever drafted. And LB did not give him much burn and traded him away. And now he shows us what we had. Go figure.

Yeah speaking of him, he went 5-6 from 3 today and scored somewhere around 17

DJ Augustin has been a huge disappointment. His potential these days is role player at best. Small, weak, can't run an offense, can't defend. It's so painful to watch Brook Lopez turn into one of the best centers in the league.

Yeah he hasn't been too good so far. When we drafted him i was excited because he looked to be a great player. I remember him having nice scoring games and even had that game where he went 7-11 from 3 against Atlanta. He also had a 29 point game aswell.

But then he kind of died down a little and didn't play too well.

Good analysis by Bonnell. Dont always agree with him, but he's right in this case.

The departure of The Franchise has hurt, no doubt.
Humble yourself.

Over at ESPN Insider, David Thorpe has always done a ranking of the Rookies. Last year, DJ was in the Top 10 most of the year, and I think finished #9. This year, he started a Super Soph ranking to see if they continue their climb. Needless to say, they listed only the Top 20. And DJ is not there.

Yea, I mean.. the 20 guys listed have definitely played better than DJ so far. Carroll had been a reliable shooter until he spent and offseason with LB, do we think DJ has caught the same bug or are his shooting problems more of an slump type aspect?

I think the league watched tape and is defending him against his strengths (shooting) and not worrying about him being a distributor. They also know DJ can't guard ANYBODY, so they punish him (and us as fans) with impunity.

This is a weak argument Bass. Was tape unavailable a season ago? DJ had a good SEASON as a rookie, not just a hot start or finish. Good teams have good scouting teams that are paid to figure out what a player does well and where he is most effective, whether the player is a rookie or not. It's not like the season ended and teams spent the entire offseason figuring out the handful of things you need to do to make DJ struggle. He's in a slump and not getting as many opportunities a year ago because of Murray.
