***State of the Board Address***
I'm going to keep this relatively short.
When I first joined RealGM, way back when (Reggie Miller was still around, Shaq was on the Lakers, Ron Artest was a positive for the Pacers) the Pacers board was pretty active. There was a great mod team in place, and there was a core of posters and a lot of non-Pacer fans posted on the board.
Then the brawl happened. The mod team changed a bit, but with count came the era of tradition, which kept the board active for a lot longer. There was an influx of people from another board. A few more events including the loss of a valuable pillar of the community, pacerfan, resulted in a decline of the board.
Now, this board is vacant. Activity is at an all-time low, even with things picking up a bit at the beginning of the season. I'm not trying to point fingers, the facts are just that people aren't really feeling the Pacers and this board after all that's happened. I'm basically asking all of you that are here now to help me make this board into an active place for good Pacers discussion. I think we're headed in the right direction, but a little more effort (5 extra minutes per day?) from everybody would be appreciated.
So, people, sign up for the gamethreads so I don't have to worry about 'em. If you have ideas for more board games (games for the Pacers board) then let's hear 'em. I want this place to feel like the community it once felt like to me. I want to have an environment where everyone can freely discuss every last nerdy aspect of Pacers basketball.

Re: ***State of the Board Address***
I've been posting here since 2002 and I've seen all the changes you comment on here. I think the reason we are kinda sleepy these days is the team isn't winning all that much. If we have a good run and get back to a 50 win team rather than a 35 win team there will be more people wanting to talk the game.
As for game threads I'm not really good enought with the posting to make good thread so I'm probably not gonna be able to help out with that.

Game threads don't need to be fancy at all. All we need is someone to designate a thread and that's it. Throw in a tradition pic for good measure. Everything else extravagant that we do is all optional.

Miller4ever, I appreciate everything you do for this board. I have no doubt that this board will return to those glory days once again.
Anything I can do, I'd be glad to help. Game threads.. whatever you need. I've never done them before, so my first one might not be too special until I get the hang of it.

Go ahead and sign up for some of them. I moved the signup thread from the lofty, scarcely-visited announcements section to the sticky section.

Wait, you actually want to hear MORE from me?
I was actually expecting an anti-Gremz campaign.

Re: ***State of the Board Address***
I would post more but I get too pissed off when they Pacers lose. I check this board every day. Also, I'd sign up for game threads but I have no clue how to even begin to do so.

Like I said, it doesn't take much.
Also, the board is a great venting place. That "trade Ford" petition is a perfect example.

I think a small part of the inactivity is that the mods ran off a few people last season (? maybe the season before) when they were locking 5 threads per day.

I've been guilty of this as well, but if everyone gives a little more effort, this board can really be something special. A lot of a little can make a difference. Good call M4E.

Road trip coming up. Grab those gamethreads. We're healthier than we've been in a LONG time. Lots to talk about.

Good point. And good example.
I like to post here mostly to vent because I am a huge pessimist (sometimes this can be annoying). I also like to hear from other Pacer fans because I don't know any in person. I might be the only Pacer fan in my city, so coming here allows me to communicate with fellow pacer fans. it's pretty cool.
And tradition pics are great.
