Your one draft day regret?

Post#1 » by jorgo » Sat Nov 21, 2009 4:48 pm

Can't be a regret like not taking Brandon Jennings in the 3rd round. Has to be a regret which you really tossed up between this guy or that guy at a certain pick. Decided to go one way, but in hindsight, you would be crushing your league if you went the other way.

Kick things off....

Taking Amare Stoudemire at pick 7 instead of Dirk. Had Dirk above Amare the whole time, just at the last moment decided to take Amare as Dirk is a boring player. Apparently not this year...

Waiting too long to take Tyreke Evans and Russell Westbrook and drafting Mario Chalmers early.

Post-draft I dropped both Morrow and Fernandez, but due to injuries / trades it looks like they're both going to be $$$ now.

calderon in the 4th was a huge mistake, not taking ariza WHEN HE WAS DRAFTED IN THE 11TH ROUND!

and not picking up jennings after his first game which was a near triple doube

Reached for DJ effing Augustn in *gulp* the 8th round.

Passed on Tyreke Evans. Pretty sure he was there in the 10th.

I'd targeted Noah for weeks because I KNEW he was going to be fire. And yet, the 10th ground came and went and I slept on him.

Took Jason Kidd in the early 3rd. Again, the guy I targeted, Rondo, was there, but at the last second I went with the bigger name.

And like NetsForce, I dropped Morrow after drafting him in the last round. My mortal enemy scooped him off the wire soon thereafter.

Aside from that, my draft was perfect.

Takes the cake so far.

Noticed the blog in your signature and thought the last post was amusing because that is exactly my thoughts on draft day which has caused me to start this thread...

"John McEnroe would probable take Dirk 5th.....but not me. No, if I am lucky enough to land a 5-7 pick this year in any of my multiple leagues, I'll be taking on the still growing talents (fantasy-wise) of Danny "Sex Bat" Granger or Kevin "Sexy Thunder" Durant. They are both studs that could easily hold the #1 overall someday and I just gave them kick-ass nick names. I've never felt good about taking Dirk ahead of these boys, he just gives me the creeps. But if Dirk is all thats left @ 7 , thats the way the cookie crumbles. Hmmm, **** it. I'd take Amare actually."

DIdn't pick up Marc Gasol... had an offer of Jameer Nelson for Noah on the table and rejected it... and last but not least traded Brandon Jennings and Marion for JaKidd.

Not many really, if any I'd have to say.

*Auto-pick on Ray Allen (3rd round)
*Going early on Anthony Randloph, but looking decent now.
*Picking Sessions in the 7th Round

Can't really complain as I had decent picks later in the draft such as Ariza, Evans and Jennings.

lol I picked Harden in the 10th round, but I also got Jennings in the 11th round, so it wasn't too bad.
I'd say Harden was a mistake, and taking Battier over Ariza. Also Caron Butler was a bad pick, got him 3rd round. But I managed to swing him in a deal for Chauncey Billups.

At the end of the day I don't care really about my mistakes, because Jennings at 11th in a keeper league is the best thing ever!

Same. I have Biedrins in my H2H team. Tried to make my team strong in rebounds/blocks/fg% but its not working without him.

Drafting Iverson. Also its be a tough start w/ Hamilton and Biedrins injuries, but they are suppose to be back within the week. On the other side of things, I drafted Jennings.

I actually did end up "Biting the Bullet" so to speak, and ended up with Dirk in one of my two head to heads. Straight trade for Deron.
