Potential Accolades this year

Post#1 » by Dustin5566 » Sat Nov 21, 2009 6:25 pm

I know we have a ROY thread for Tyreke, but what about the other Kings that have shots at accolades this year..

ROY- Tyreke Evans

Rookie game- Tyreke Evans

Sophomore game- Jason Thompson

Coach of the year- Paul Westphal

Think if production continues both JT and Reke should be locks for therookie vs sophmore game.

I also think if PW can lead the Kings to 30-35 wins that he will get a lot of consideration for COY.

Any others??

2 and 3 are locks at this point IMO.
1 is totally possible.
4 he'll be in the running, but doubtful.

Donte Green Most Improved? If he can be more consistent it's not completely ridiculous to at least say he could be in the running.

Is he going to get consistent playing time?

He'd have to average at least 13 ppg to even be considered.

I think Westphal's got a real shot at it this year. If this team can stay near .500, I think he's a leading candidate, considering very few people thought we'd win more than 25 games.

But I think this is finally Rick's year for COY. I'd be very happy for him if he got it.

The only way PW gets it over Rick is if we finish with a better record which is doubtful. Possible, but doubtful.

Coach of the year... I think that's some wishful thinking.

After the Houston game, Omri locked the starting SF position at the Rookies' Game!

If I am wrong I will eat those words (or atleast take a bite of my laptop :o)!

1. Unless Evans has a 56 point game up his sleeve, somehow I believe it's Jennings' award to lose...
2. Agree
3. Agree
4. If Rick Adelman could never win COY with us (maintaining among the best records in the league despite NUMEROUS yearly injuries), then Paul Westphal most certainly will not. Unless of course we not only MAKE the playoffs, but UPSET somebody in the process.

Players on rookie contracts should be banned from winning MIP I think.

Westphal won't win COY unless the Kings make the playoffs. If history has shown us anything it's that COY typically goes to whichever coach has the most wins come year end, regardless of how utterly incompetent the coach is and how much he NEGATIVELY effected the talent oozing from his team (I'm looking at you Mike Brown).

Evans & Tyreke will both make the rookie/soph teams. Casspi could make it but I think it's doubtful at this point. If he played some minutes at the 4 I think he'd have a chance (the rooks are going to be REALLY guard heavy).
