Cabrera = Met?

Post#1 » by holdupstop23 » Wed May 2, 2007 8:03 pm

While the Mets were taking batting practice and the Marlins were stretching, Mets General Manager Omar Minaya engaged third baseman Miguel Cabrera in about a 10-minute conversation.

What you gonna offer us in return? I wouldn't want anyone on your team.

Cuz we're not the Braves...if we're gonna lose great players, at least we trade them and get great prospects in return.

Nothing. I'll take him in 2009.

This is all just speculation. The wiretap is just looking to stir up some rumors.

maybe omar was tellin him to lay off the Mcdonalds... The guy is looking a little chunky, still its tampering if he was in uniform. Only way i'd see the mets getting him is as a FA. Otherwise we'd have to offer up WAYYYY to much.

Ok im going to break this down easily for everyone...

Step 1: Omar Minaya has a thing for Hispanic players.
Step 2: Miguel Cabrera is a Hispanic player.
Step 3: Cabrera is a Met.

Honestly I would love to get this kid on the Mets, he is one of the better baseball players in the league. However he may well break the record for a new contract along with Santana. (Aside from A-Rod)

Id give Gomez, Martinez in order to get him, however this one is a pipedream.

::Drooling::

SS: Jose Reyes
3B: David Wright
CF: Carlos Beltran
LF: Miguel Cabrera
1B: Carlos Delgado
RF: Shawn Green / Moises Alou
C: Paul LoDuca
2B: Jose Valentin

He could move to left, right?

wanna know the sad thing... we'd probably be slower in LF. I think he could move back / slim down though. If Omar could figure a way to get him in a mets jersey without giving up the farm i'd be stoked.

Naw man. His fat ass would be too much of a defensive liability. Did you see in game two of this last series when he couldn't even catch a routine fly and Ramirez had to bail him out? I'm with mjhp911, he belongs at 1st base when Delgado retires/is traded.

Not on your current roster. 50-50 chance we trade him in a few years...so you better start stacking up young arms and young 5-tool players.
