Browns @ Lions

Post#1 » by ajaX82 » Thu Nov 19, 2009 4:23 am

Well this is the fast track to the #1 pick probably, and will crown the worst in the league. After seeing how they played Monday night, anything other than a win would be a disaster. We wanna stay away from #1 again and not be the laughing stock of the league, so come on guys....dont let me down

Tampa and Cleveland are tied with us (Rams beat us/and a think Tampa/Cleveland actually beat us out due to tiebreakers). I want a top 3 pick. I want Ndamukong Suh. I don't care about being a laughing stock. We deserve it right now. I'd rather have the better player to help build than some sort of bragging rights of beating another **** team.

Now that doesn't mean I don't wanna win. But I don't think losing somehow makes us any worse. We are REALLY REALLY bad. We've lost our last 6 in a row, we've have numerous injuries every single game. We only have a dozen players actually worth keeping around. We still need ALOT of help. And for us, the draft is a good avenue to upgrade talent.

I've actually been leaning a lot more towards Eric Berry lately. IDK why but he's supposedly the next Ed Reed. Having him and Louis Delmas back there would be Godly IMO. If we could aim at D-Line in Free Agency, I'm all for Eric Berry.

Berry would compliment Delmas very well too. One safety that's amazing in coverage and the other that's a big run stopper and big hitter. That is a perfect safety tandem.

I want a high pick too. The problem with getting #1 is the money involved. Our cap will be destroyed if we keep giving out #1 money every year. Even the 2 pick will be substantially cheaper.

And as far as Eric Berry, im a big fan as well. Kid is a monster. Him, Okung, Suh or the DT from Oklahoma are the only players we should look at.

To tell you the truth, I would rather have Berry or Okung. I already said my reasoning on Berry, but Okung would be great to have as well. Pettigrew has shown to be a really good blocking tight end this year and adding Okung to the left side would add good chemistry that our line needs. (Okung played with Pettigrew at Oklahoma State).

Yeah, Berry or Okung over Suh imo.

This is a game where the defense had better look great. Cleveland currently has the least efficient offense in NFL history, and they've scored just 5 offensive TDs since last Thanksgiving. They have no running game outside the tackles and thier passing game is a freaking mess.

I think this will be a low-scoring affair. As bad as the Browns are, their defense has teeth, they just are on the field too long and get worn down.

As for the draft, Suh is perfect for what the Lions need on defense. He's every bit as good as Tommie Harris before the knee injuries. Gerald McCoy is a nice fallback plan; more of a pass rusher and not as stout against the run, but still a disruptor in the line. I don't see an OL that deserves to go top 5, not when the defense is still the bigger problem with this team. There should be some decent upside-laden OL at the top of the 2nd round that make for better value.

^ I agree. OL can be addressed later in the draft, but you have to take the best defender possible and that is Ndamukong Suh. He is a guy you build a defense around. I understand you don't want to give out #1 money every year, but until this team starts winning, they are going to be top 3 in picks. Might as well take advantage.

Our offense is average. Our defense is atrocious. DT and CB are our biggest weaknesses on defense and there aren't any CBs worth taking early. We have adequate talent at S and LB. Not outstanding talent, but adequate. We need to fill the holes. Building a solid D-line will but pressure on the opposing QB and won't give him enough time to burn our secondary. It all starts upfront. That is what needs to be addressed.

It doesn't matter how much our offense scores if our defense is last in the league every single year. Draft defense/try to sign offense in free agency.

Free agents don't want to come to Detroit. I wish they did, but they just hate us.

That's not as true as it used to be. Larry Foote called them, and Bryant Johnson had other equal offers. As much as people like to criticize Martin Mayhew, he has an exceptional reputation and rapport with most agents. Matt Millen never had any use for them and that's part of why free agents shunned Detroit like Glenn Beck shuns logic.

ok that cracked me up. clever simile my man.

You guys are prolly correct on not taking Okung....he just isnt worth a top 5 pick. Get a guy in the middle of that line who can bring pressure (gasp, that can happen??) and stop the run. Suh would be a dream come true and a lucky break for a franchise quite accustomed to unlucky breaks

Almost half of Brady's passes have been TD passes.

Deep to CJ!

Whoa. Tie game! I thought we were doomed but all the sudden the offense comes alive. That throw Stafford made to CJ was nice. Gotta love the offense showing what it can do!
