Do the Rockets still need Yao Ming?

The Rockets seem to be fine without Yao Ming. Do the Rockets still need him? Should the Rockets trade Yao?

Would the Rockets consider a trade revolving around a Kaman for Yao swap?

To the first post, yes, because our interior defense blows.

To the second post, absolutely not.

The Rockets need Yao, and even if they didn't it's a poor financial decision to get rid of him for any purpose. Trade Yao for an expiring and someone young and sign Lebron, and maybe Joe Johnson.

Brooks/Lowry
Ariza/Battier
Lebron
Scola/Landry
Hayes

Championship!

I don't think this discussion happens too often in the front offices of the Houston Rockets franchise. The team does pretty decently without Yao, but everyone knows that they can go a lot further with him than without him.

No but we need a big man that can defend and rebound. And one that can catch and finish around the basket. We don't need a post player per say. The league has moved passed the need for true post players. With the current rules its a perimeter player's league. If you have a PG, SG, SF that can drive and create shots for others you only need a big man who offensively can catch and throw it down.

Defensively is the big thing but at the same time if you have someone that can protect the basket and grab boards you will be fine. This team simply need to start over in terms of its star players. I feel Morey knows and will do this.

Trade Yao for Bosh! Morey makes it happen pls~~~~I thnink Morey is willing to do a trade for Yao, but THE BOSS won't do it for finance reasons. Yao means too much cash for him.

To be honest the biggest issue with Yao is that he's been pretty injury prone for the last few years. Given the current situation Rockets are in, they do need Yao, unless they can get another legit big man. For the current tempo that we play in, someone like Bosh would probably be the best fit.

However, I doubt he gets traded anytime soon. His value is just too low right now, and since Yao's contract is over in 2011, I'm sure Morey will take his chances and see whether Yao can still play at a high level when he comes back. If not, just don't re-sign him. And I doubt anyone's interested in him right now, since his future is still somewhat of a question mark, unless it's one of those tiny market teams trying to win over the Chinese market.

nothing personal, but what kind of question is that? of course Rockets need Yao
we're an average team without him
to be elite contender we need him and T-Mac
just because we win more than what people expected doesn't mean we can go without them

I concur with the sentiment whether or not Yao can regain his all-star form. If so, then the Rox could use the big man. They are playing well now, but they don't seem to have an identity without a star player. Either stay with Yao or acquire another.

If the Rockets can incorporate Yao's game into their current style, I think they are a decent guard away from contender status. the Rockets, this year and in last years playoffs, caused a lot of grief with scrappy and formidable team play. They are all very quick and perhaps Yao isn't suited to that.

What are you rambling about? You asked for a championship team with inside defense, and now you're mentioning Ron Harper, Jordan and Kerr. Being a 7 footer does not = defense.
