We need a consistant 6th man

Post#1 » by mike3 » Fri Nov 20, 2009 4:28 am

Where lacking a lot but i feel we really need a consistant scorer off the bench.

someone that can average 15+ points and instant offense off the bench.
I thought Butler could be this guy and i still hope he improves as the season goes but he seems to be struggling.

Our next best is Craig Smith, i love his game and his power in the post, if he could get more minutes i reckon he could be hard to stop sometimes. As hes shown

im not sure who would fit our team for our 6th man though and who we'd need to give up.

Just something ive been thinking about, hopefully Butler or Smith might improve dramatically and be this guy

initially it was supposed to be thornton up until gordon injured himself. rasual is much better starting because he plays defense and can shoot the ball although like you said hes struggling. the thing is i really think kaman doesnt know how to pass out of a double team and seems to force shots when he is. which is terrible. Thorton struggled off the bench when rasual finally took over and hes playing much better, but he settles for too many jumpshots and the offense gets stagnant when he holds the ball. same old story with that guy. ideally, you have thornton, telfair, smith, griffin or camby, and rickydavs would be a pretty good lineup but we'll see until the guys get back. gordon will probably miss tomorrow nights game and play monday.

Yeh with Gordon out its hard to see who will play better starting, Butler or Thornton.
and hopefully whoever starts we can find a solid rotation that works. Personally i dont mind who starts, both have benefits in starting. I like Thornton overall better but i hope he doesn't continue to force bad shots. But ah well, when everyones 100% maybe we can find that someone im talking about.

We don't have a consistent 6th man because we have injuries. Thornton/Butler would most likely be our 6th man or even the back up PF whether it be Griffin or Camby. We just have to wait for our players to come back. (How many times have I been saying that over the years :()
I've been an LA Clipper fan since 1998 and that will never change. I hate our new logo and jerseys!

It will be different when Blake and EJ come back, so Thornton and Camby will come off the bench.

Thats true,

If todays game was any different Butler could be that 6th man that can consistantly score. I was glad that he played well

He's struggling being consistent. Look at his stat sheet for his games this year.

And I'm not even sure you can say he plays better defense than Thornton.

They're both inconsistent.

What about Ricky Davis?

Can he still play or just collecting a check?

It depends what you mean by "play." He is shooting much better than he did last season and is scoring the ball when he is in the game, but so is the opponent if you catch my drift.

I think once we get everyone back healthy Rasual should be that 6th man just 'cause he seems more relaxed on offense compared to Mr. Erratic & Sir Bricks-a-lot.
