Al Harris/Kampman out for year (torn ACL)

Post#1 » by Captain Erv » Sun Nov 22, 2009 11:00 pm

words cannot describe the magnitude of this loss...

Biggs: Al Harris suffers torn ACL

Veteran cornerback and pass rusher Kampman both hurt in win over 49ers

The Green Bay Packers paid a high price in their victory over the San Francisco 49ers this afternoon at Lambeau Field.

Veteran cornerback Al Harris has been lost for the season with a torn ACL, according to a league source.

Harris, who turns 35 next month, was injured in the fourth quarter. He was running in coverage with 49ers wide receiver Michael Crabtree when he went down. Harris was taken by cart to the locker room.

Harris and Charles Woodson have been one of the strengths of the Packers’ defense, and he’s been a model of durability throughout his career. Harris missed four games last season with a spleen issue, but had played in 16 games in five previous seasons for Green Bay.

In Harris’ absence, the Packers will likely have to rely more on Tramon Williams. He wasn’t the only serious injury concern for the team either. Pass rusher Aaron Kampman went down in the third quarter with a left knee injury. His knee buckled, and he made it to the sideline before taking a cart to the locker room.

More Bush is never good. In football or in bed.

I blame Redd.

We are **** beyond belief if we are going to rely on Bush and Underwood.

We'll probably hear soon enough that Kampman will be lost for the remainder of the season as well.

"In Harris’ absence, the Packers will likely have to rely more on Tramon Williams."

Quite possibly the scariest sentence ever written.

Kampman out 2-4 weeks.
I'm against picketing but I don't know how to show it.

What terrific timing.

Travel to Detroit on short rest, Baltimore, @ Chicago, and @ Pittsburgh.

Although Detroit put up a lot of points (on Cleveland) at least we get them on the short week and then have 11 days before the Monday nighter against Baltimore. Tramon I'm fine with, it's just that Bush moves up a notch now and I can't stand that.

JS is saying Kampman is done for the year as well, where'd you hear 2-4 MD?

Source: Kampman likely out for season with torn ACL as well

By Greg A. Bedard of the Journal Sentinel
Nov. 22, 2009 5:37 p.m.

Green Bay - The initial prognosis on Packers linebacker Aaron Kampman is that he also suffered a torn ACL and will miss the remainder of the season, according to a source.

Cornerback Al Harris also sustained a torn ACL and is expected to miss the rest of the season.

Both players will undergo MRI exams on Monday to confirm the results.

Well we get to see if Tramon is truly the answer.
He's got talent no question but i suspect he gets exposed.
I hope I'm wrong.

And now we get to see if Brad Jones is for real.
I suspect he is.
I hope I'm right.

Also need to give Jordy the P return job back. Can't expose Tramon and have Bush start.

Wow. I heard 2-4 on the post game show on the way home. I'll edit the title.

What are the chances one or both of them have played their last game as a Packer?

Wow, and with Kampman heading into his FA year. You can forget any thoughts of doing a franchise and trade.

Damn, that sucks. The defense played like crap after they went down.

Matthew Stafford also suffered a injury and I don't think well see him this Thursday

Harris is one of my favorite Packers ever. He's been a warrior. It would suck if this ended his career.

Yep

I think Tramon can do ok as a starting corner, it's everyone else bumping up to nickle and dime corner is what's terrifying.
