I need some help...

Post#1 » by NetsForce » Sat Nov 21, 2009 4:58 pm

16 team H2H league, default 9 cats:

Jason Terry
Kevin Durant
Josh Smith
Andrea Bargnani
Roy Hibbert
Mario Chalmers
Andre Iguodala
Brendan Haywood
Nate Robinson*
Mike Dunleavy*

I just picked up Mike Dunleavy today. There are some injured players on waivers who I'm thinking about picking up (eventually), the three guys I'm looking at are:

Tyrus Thomas, Kevin Love, Jameer Nelson.

Which of those guys do you think I should pick up?

Right now I'm leaning towards dropping either one of Robinson or Dunleavy depending on how they play in the next week or so. I dropped Chris Andersen to get Dunleavy but am fully intent on picking him up again as a hold-over player until the three guys mentioned above are good to go.

I normally don't jump on guys at the first sound of their return, but I'm not happy with Nate Robinson and Andersen may be out for a bit, does anyone have any thoughts on Mike Dunleavy? And is Nate Robinson worth holding onto?

Robinson for Nelson in a heartbeat. I'm concerned about Nate's minutes now that Hughes is playing well and Toney Douglas is getting some run. He just won't get anywhere near the minutes he did last year, so I'd be happy to cut your losses after today's game if Nate plays less than 30 minutes.

No need to rush to pick up Thomas or Love at this stage in my opinion.

FWIW, Tyrus is said to be recovering well and may return around December 4th. I don't think you should grab him now, necessarily, but be ready. Taj Gibson is NOT playing well so ole Tyrus will get all his minutes back more or less right away.

Well Nelson is also out and despite the RealGM wiretap headline that he could be back in 3 weeks, I'm pretty sure it's going to take him longer than that to get back on the court (closer to 5-6 weeks IMO).

I think I will drop Nate if he plays poorly today though... Hopefully Dunleavy isn't a dud, otherwise I'm going to be stuck between a rock and a hard place as not many good players are on the waiver wire (Fernandez got waived but someone is using a higher waiver priority to nab him).

Dropped Nate for Pietrus... Was up in the air on whether I should have taken Dudley instead but it seems like Pietrus' minutes will be more consistent.

Hah Jameer got picked up. Though the team got picked him up was one of the team's I least expected to...

I know this guy and let's just say his team isn't that good and with a 10 player roster I don't think he's going to be able to wait out the whole Jameer Nelson injury if he wants to make the playoffs.

Anyway I figure Love is 3 weeks away from what I've read, and then Tyrus is anywhere from 2-4 weeks away... So I'm going to wait a week reevaluate and then probably pick up one of them.

I read a similar article before (don't remember where) saying Tyrus may be back in early December.

I think he'll be back to practice by then, might take him until mid-december to start producing though...

Nelson's the last guy I woudl grab on that list. He's out too long, i'd get either love or tyrus.

I'm working on trading for Dwight Howard right now, thinking about tanking 3's, FT%, turnovers and just trying to go strong in the 5-6 other categories.

Jason Terry
Kevin Durant
Josh Smith
Andrea Bargnani
Roy Hibbert
Mario Chalmers
Andre Iguodala
Brendan Haywood
Mickael Pietrus
Mike Dunleavy

Pietrus is going to be dropped for another big / scorer regardless of the Dwight trade but I'm looking at trying to construct a package centered around Andrea Bargnani.
