Should I drop Iverson?

Post#1 » by Cigamodnalro » Sun Nov 22, 2009 10:15 pm

He's taking up valuable space on the end of my bench right now. I drafted him high, so I've been hesitant to let go, but it doesn't look like he's coming back anytime soon---does it?

well, his minutes are going to be "scarce". Maybe you should cut him and add a player who plays basketball for an NBA team?

Extremely bad move if you really drafted him pretty high. Definitely shouldn't be owned at this point either.

Had the Knicks signed him, maybe he would have gotten some decent minutes and been worthy of a roster spot in a 10 team league...but I can't see any situation, assuming he does get signed eventually, where he would even have the chance to be anything fantasy wise. Realistically the only way he even gets signed again is if he accepts a 6th man role, which isn't likely. And even in that case, what is the best case scenario for minutes? Maybe 30 a game, and that's being generous.

With Detroit last year he got 36 mpg, which is obviously more then he will ever get again. And what did he even do with that amount of PT? 17 ppg, 3 rpg, 5 apg, 1.6 spg, 2.5 turnovers, 42% shooting, 0.5 threes, 79% ft. So lets say he were to get 25-30 mpg....you're probably looking at 13/2/4 with a little over a steal a game, 2 turnovers, and terrible percentages all around. That's waiver wire material in pretty much any type of league.

I drafted him as well, I dropped him after Memphis did. I really thought he'd do whatever it took this year, but I was wrong. Now Danny Ainge is saying the same thing, I would drop him if I were you and pick someone else up.

Dropped him yesterday. I'm going to ride the Marcus Thornton train til I can re-insert CP3 in my lineup :D
