On the trade board I said I would accept this trade offer if nothing more than just to see if an experienced pointguard, who knows how to run a team and play uptempo can make a difference. Conley, for all his athleticism and individual skills, just doesn't seem to be the ingredient that elevates this team, as unfair as that burden to put on his shoulders may be.

Would Memphis be interested in a package focused on Miller/Conley (with filler to match salaries)?

Not particularly. It would have to be something along the lines of Conley and Jaric for Miller, Outlaw and Fernandez. Miller's obviously lost a step or 4, so swallowing this year and two more is an awfully steep price for moving Conley - who is many years younger and just about as productive as Miller is. I just don't think the parts are right - at least in regards to Conley/Miller being the must include pieces.

It is my understanding that the this year is the only fully guaranteed year of Miller's contract. I thought the other two were team options. Sham Sports shows next year as guaranteed, and the third year as the TO, so I'm not sure.

Also, the reason I thought about the Griz is because many fans on other boards have said that they thought his veteran leadership would be helpful. To clarify his value, he isn't playing behind Blake because Miller can't play, he's coming off the bench because his coach is a moron. Put Miller on a young team like the Grizzlies, and I think their entire team would get more easy shots.

Gasol is a top-5 center on a complete bargain of a contract. He's not going anywhere. And don't play the whole "he's just gonna bolt as soon as he gets the chance" card because he will be a RESTRICTED free agent when he's up for a new contract.

Marc Gasol was the 48th pick in the 2007 draft(amazing isn't it?). I thought second rounders aren't guaranteed, only have 3 year contracts, and become UNRESTRICTED free agents when their contracts expire.

I think they came to an agreement that gave his the guaranteed 3 year deal. And I think the CBA allows rookie players coming off their contracts to be restricted free agents no matter what. Gilbert Arenas rule lol.

As others have said already you are wrong - fortunately His deal is structured along the same lines as Sessions deal. 3 fully guaranteed years = RFA, first rounder or second

Teams have several options on contracts for 2nd Rd picks.
The basic is a 2yr deal for the min w/as much guaranteed as the two sides agree on.
A team under the salary cap can use that cap room on a Second's contract(and it looks like that's what Memphis did w/Gasol).
Teams over the cap can use part of the MLE. Utah did this w/their Seconds for yrs,giving their picks multi-yr security in exchange for giving up the chance of getting a big offer(up to MLE) after 2 yrs.(Houston is also doing this using the MLE to sign Scola three yrs ago, Dorsey last yr and Taylor and Budinger this yr.)
