I say we go after an 8 footer. Just blow everyone else out of the water. Know any 8 footers?

Re: trade for missing piece
Here's a 3-way combining several of y'all's ideas to get most of what DEN needs for what little it has to offer :
(Can't be completed til 12/26)
First,
Hunter TPE for KDooling (2 yrs, 3.5M)
Atkins TPE for JAlexander (1 yr, 2.5M)
then:
DEN in:
KThomas (1 yr, 3.8M)
Yi Jianlian (2 yrs 3.1M)
DEN out:
2010 2nd rd pick (likely to be from LAC)
Balkman, Carter, Graham, Petro, Allen
MIL in:
Balkman
JBoone
MIL out:
KThomas
2011 2nd
(Alexander)
NJ in:
DEN/LAC 2010 2nd
MIL 2011 2nd
Carter, Graham, Petro, Allen
NJ out
Yi
Boone
(Dooling)
NJ gets about $6M more 2010 capspace (Harris-TWill-LBJ-Bosh-Lopez, anyone?) plus no-cap-hold picks
MIL turns spare parts into Skiles-style young role players, saves money
DEN gets deep. KThomas, Dooling are much better insurance than Allen, Carter. Yi is the (injured) young 7-footer with a jumpshot that DEN needs to be developing behind 30-somethings Martin and Anderson. Between Hess and Grg, there's a chance he could become capable rebounder and defender. Has quick feet, good hands and solid frame. Needs upper body strength and some fangs. Alexander is bouncy Mandarin-speaking ex-teammate(?) of Yi's who we could get a look at 'for free'. Nugs would have to sign one more player. Any one of Stack, Szcserb, DMiles, GGreen, DMarshal, MAlmond or (undrafted) Paul Harris could possibly beat out Alexander for the 6-12 minutes Melo sits (or JR can slide over for some small ball). Sales of Ty Lawson jerseys in China pay for extra lux tax charge.
CBill/Ty/Dooling
AA/JEarl3/(Dooling)
Melo/FA/Alexander
KMart/Yi-inj/KThomas
Nene/Bird/(KThomas)
Pretty tight, eh?

Re: trade for missing piece
I'd take the 18 and 14 Elton Brand put up against the Cavs. I think he'd be a good fit on the team (remember his extra long wingspan... makes him more like a 7 footer), but the drawback is his longer contract. But that's exactly why Philly would swap K-Mart for him.
But you'd still need a backup big... Balkman, Allen, AC, Petro... done. Then TPE Jarvis Hayes as a replacement wing and call up Curtis Stinson if he plays well in December.
Nene, Chris Andersen
Brand, Collison
Anthony, Hayes
Afflalo, JR Smith
Billups, Lawson, Curtis "Blue Collar" Stinson (hehe)
Keep an eye on D-Leaguers like Amara Sy and sign a good 12th man. Then wait for vets to get bought out and look for a cheap pickup next spring.
Finally... win championship. Put up banner.... drink at bar to celebrate

Re: trade for missing piece
I highly doubt the FO would even consider trading for Brand. He has averaged 34 minutes in his last 5 games and put up 19/10/3/2 in the last three. Might indicate he is finally healthy? Still very risky and a lot of money to invest.
A swap of Brand/Jason Smith for Kmart/Allen would be better value. Still won't happen.
Billups/Lawson
AA/JR
Nene/Andersen
Melo/JR
Brand/Smith
Nice 9 man rotation for Karl.

Nene, K-mart and Birdman just aren't good enough... We can't score enough inside in the playoffs against good teams... and teams guard when Nene and K-mart are in teams guard 4 on 5 willing to let K-mart shoot jumpers. If Nene is not in it's 3 on 5. Gotta get a big time big.
I just posted this idea on the trade board. I know this would leave the Nuggets frontcourt very thin, but there are guys like Antonio Daniels and Wally Szczerbiak as FAs.
Clippers Get: Lawson/M. Allen/Battier/'10 First (Top 10 Protected from HOU)
Clippers Give: Kaman
The Clippers get a young, promising PG, who is quickly becoming one of my favorite PGs in the league in Lawson. They bring in my favorite player in the league in Battier, who brings great defense and leadership. The Clips also get a mid first next year, along with creating about $2-3 million more in cap space this offseason.
Nuggets Get: Kaman
Nuggets Give: Lawson/M. Allen/JR Smith
The Nuggets really need a strong presence in the paint. Last time I checked, Kaman was leading all centers in PPG. About a week ago, a Nuggets fan posted that they would give anyone on their team, except Billups, Melo, or Nene to get Kaman.
Rockets Get: JR Smith
Rockets Give: Battier/'10 First (Top 10 Protected)
The Rockets get more offensive firepower, and allow Ariza to play more SF. This could boost the Rockets into the playoffs.

That ain't happening anytime soon, Bill Crystal
I'd absolutely love Kaman, he'd be great as a starting C here and move Nene to PF, but parting with Lawson and J.R. doesn't make sense

The Rebel wrote:Guys I would look at to be the 4th big,
Wilcox, signed with detroit prior to Wallace showing up and playing like his old self. Now having trouble getting any kind of minutes.
Geico, he left because he wanted to be on a team going somewhere, and also wanted more minutes, I think he may realize how good he had it in Denver and the Bucks may be willing to move him for a little more in savings.
Jason Smith is still working on being fully back from his knee injury last season, but he showed some skill. With the Speights injury they may not be ready to move him right now, but he is on the depth chart behind Young (who plays plenty of minutes at the PF slot)/Dalembert/ Brand/ Speights so they may be willing to move him to save some money.
Josh Boone or Sean Williams with the Nets, both are solid bigs with some skills, and the Nets may move one of them if it means they can get rid of Najera or Dooling's contracts next season.
I think the Thunder would move Collison if we could make the numbers work.
I would love to get Brandon Wright from the warriors, and nelly is just crazy enough to trade him, but Nelly may be on his way out leaving the front office to not make a deal.
I would consider Wilcox, but if he doesn't have anything that we don't have in KMart, Nene, and Birdman to consider Karl finding PT for him... then he'd be in the same situation as in Detroit.
There's reason why Geico didn't play much during his stint here... he can shoot but still a stiff in the paint.
No comment on Smith, I liked him during the draft, but haven't really seen him play in the L lol
Josh Boone would be decent, he can rebound the ball and can pass some and catch passes. But for God sake pls don't bring that garbage here Sean Williams... he has the worst pair of hands of any big men along with Reggie Evans.
Collison would be great. He has some mid range shot to edge him over Wilcox... but still could be a problem finding PT for him.
Brandan Wright would be huge, definitely the best talent, he's so long, lean and so active... but that injury could hold him back a lot... I'd take him for cheap. Guy has post moves noone talks about. The potential return is huge, he might produce on a new team.

The nuggets really could use a guy like Brandon Bass,
maybe AC and Balkman and future picks.
Or maybe we could work out a 3 team deal get Bass, and another guy or 2 for Martin, and Balkman/AC
