You know when we're healthy the PG situation does get better. Fisher is old and can't guard these new guys but with Gasol back in the line-up we should be good. I mean look at Thursday night against the Bulls.

Yes, but the Rap's would laugh off that proposal
How would this benefit them?

Calderon is overrated and overpaid, but I understand not wanting to do the deal when Jarret Jack and Marcus Banks are your other point guard options. Jack/Farmar/Banks is not a good rotation. And no, the Lakers wouldn't do that trade, the problem is that Fisher can't play defense, they are going to trade for a player that plays less defense and is a worse fit, while making more money? Jarret Jack I would be interested in. Calderon, no thanks, especially if the raptors are looking for anything more than Farmar/Morrison.Schmooftie wrote:SportsFan215 wrote:Would the Lakers trade Farmar/Morrison for Calderon?

Ok how about this:
Clippers Get: Amir/Morrison/Fisher (Bought out and returns to Lakers)
Clippers Give: Baron/Thornton/C. Smith
Raptors Get: Baron/Thornton
Raptors Give: Calderon/Amir
Lakers Get: Calderon/C. Smith
Lakers Give: Morrison/Fisher (Bought out by Clippers and returns to Lakers)
A Farmar for Collins swap could also be added in if the Lakers want that.

This might actually work better:
Clippers Get: Morrison/Amir/Fisher (Bought out and reutrns to Lakers)
Clippers Give: Baron/Thornton
Raptors Get: Baron/Thornton
Raptors Give: Calderon/Amir
Lakers Get: Calderon
Lakers Give: Morrison/Fisher
The Lakers get a PG with one of the best assist/turnover ratios in the league, and they get Fish back after a little bit but he could use that time to stay fresh for the playoffs. Also this deal saves Dr. Buss about $3 million after luxury tax savings, while improving the team at the same time.

we have the guy we need in Shannon. he's played solid and has been the consumate pro. Phil simply has to get him significant minutes. his time is now!
farmar should back him up and if farmar get out of line with wild play, then fish can fill in.
my problem with fish is that he tries to make an inprint on the game by scoring and making plays for himself.... dribble, dribble, shoot or head down and drive wreckless to the rack. Almost always, something bad happens.
all he needs to do is make sure he feeds the post and knock down the kick back 3s at a decent clip. if he simply plays within himself we'll be fine. Our squad is good enough to make up for his defficiancies.
but anyways, Shannon should get the bulk of the minutes regardless.

This was proposed on the Wolves board, what do you guys think?
Session, Pavlovic, Pecherov
for
Morrison, Farmar, Lakers 1st round pick, cash
It's a salary move for the Wolves, it might make sense to pay their backup PG less than what sessions makes in 2010. Sessions hasn't been playing well stuck behind Flynn, but I do still consider him to be on a bargain contract.
Pavlovic and Pecherov are expiring, they are likely gone unless they prove their worth, Sessions is obviously the real prize here. I know he doesn't seem like a great fit on the surface, with his lack of 3-point shooting, but the word out of Minnesota is that he has done well with the triangle offense there.

If you have the chance to get Sessions and turn around his outside shot just as the team did with Ariza you do it. Sessions on that contract for years is a great deal.
The Duhon option must be considered as well. With better guard play, specifically defensive play this team would be frightening.

LOL Why would the clips do this they get nothing other than salary relief and they are not over the cap..
BTW Calderon is a far better player than Farmer , Morrison , Luke and Fisher.. His bad defence is actually better than all four of them who are by far the worst defensive players in the league..

Calderon's defense is not better than Farmar's and that's saying something. He's really declined.

This point guard thing is stupid. Are there really guards out there that can stop quick guards on the defensive end without hand checking?

Re: Do we address the point guard situation this year or let it
Very very few defensive guards can do so. That's why when someone says Jarret Jack struggles against ultra-quick guards it's not a big deal to me.
Darren Collison arguably is the best quick guard defender that's come out of the draft the last couple of years. Other than him there are only a few that can completely stop an Aaron Brooks.
