Most likely to be traded

Post#1 » by Crossova21 » Mon Nov 23, 2009 5:14 pm

I like the team we have but I have a feeling someone is on their way out of Indy.

My vote goes to Troy Murphy just because we're 0-5 with him playing (I think). I kno he grabs boards and can knock down the three but his defense is a little questionable at times.

Rush is a CLOSE second. Ford hasn't impressed me either but I don't think that trading your starting point guard during the season will help in any way.

I think it's:

Foster
Ford
Murphy
Rush

We're not trading Rush.

hmm. for a reasonable price i can see us trading Rush. for my two cents, i think foster is the least likely to be traded (on that list)

i voted Ford.

I voted Ford as well. While I can see Crossova's point, all that really means is that he's the player we would like to move. With a contract like that and his inability to play the post, I seriously doubt we find a deal for him that we would ever even consider.

I voted Rush.

Obviously, I would hate to see it happen, but O'Brien is the dumbest person on the face of this earth and would campaign to keep TJ. Rush still has value and O'Brien hates him.

I really don't think we're going to see a major shakeup this season.

I could possibly see Foster being moved if we're not playing well and he makes it known to Bird that he wouldn't mind a trade to a contender. Maybe something like to San Antonio for Bonner/Finley or Mason/1st round pick. The 1st is very late, and the deal would also save San Antonio $1 million this year (double savings on luxury tax payments). Bonner and either Finley or Mason (San An's choice) are both expiring, helping Indy get under the luxury tax next year, and an extra 1st isn't ever a bad thing, really.

I just don't see us moving Murphy or Dunleavy this year, nor Rush. I could only possibly see Rush moved in a deal for another young guy at a different position, like Mike Conley.

I pretty much agree with everybody that I trade will probably not happen this year. I voted for Foster because I think if someone does get traded Jeff would be a logical addition to get back a slightly better player. I think Foster, Murphy, or Ford are the only three that could be traded this year. I see our biggest weaknesses as PG and PF. If we could package one of those guys with Jeff we could potential get back one much better player. I don't want to see Jeff go but he is one of the more desirable players that we have. Plus he might be at the point of his career where these injuries are only going to get worse.

Most likely
1. Murphy
2. Rush
3. Ford
4. Foster

Bird and O'Brien both love Hansbrough's game. He's pretty much ready to go. Might as well put him out there and let him have everything he can handle. If you gave him 30 minutes a game he would probably come pretty close to giving you the double/double you get from Murphy. There is a market for what Murphy brings (a big who can rebound and shoot the 3). He would fit on Cleveland, San Antonio, Denver and maybe others. While he is a little over paid, its not ridiculous and it ends pretty soon. An expiring contract and a young asset would probably get the job done from Indiana's perspective.

I don't think the Pacers are looking to trade Rush. But if you could get a young (potential starting) point guard for him they would have to consider it. Conley, Lawson, Maynor, Sessions, Augustine are some names that come to mind.

I'd be surprised if anyone saw Ford as the point guard of the future but they need him this year and maybe next and he probably doesn't have much value around the league. On a good team he's a backup and he's making 8 mil a year. Maybe some kind of package with him and Rush netting a young point would make sense. Probably a tough deal to make though.

Foster is an awfully nice fit backing up Roy and like Murphy an expiring and a young asset would be the price. If Jeff wanted out and had a chance to get a ring I think the team might try to accomodate him. But, they aren't going to give him away.

I don't think Rush is going anywhere. I would say Ford, but he's still the best talent we have at PG. I'd probably lean towards Foster or Muprhy. Hansbrough is going to start eating at playing time, and Solomon Jones has played well so far.

I would say:

Foster
Murphy
Ford
Rush

I'm not too familiar with contractual stuff, but I can see Foster being moved to a contender. We'd trade Ford if not for the fact that he isn't worth anything, so I don't think a trade would happen there. I'd still like to see Rush improve. We should give him more time to develop before we give up on him.
